What are these pains 37 weeks

I’ve had Braxton hicks several time’s a day for a few weeks, just general tightening at the middle of my stomach, but no pain at all. This evening I have been getting quite bad period type pains down really low, that come and go but it’s a continuous pain for around 3-5 minutes where I have to focus my breathing and moving position doesn’t make it go away. Then it stops for 20 mins or so before returning again. This is dc2 but such a long time ago I have forgotten all about it. Everything I have read says early contractions usually start in your back and only last around 30-60 seconds. So these seem quite different to that Confused

I had my third child few months ago and I can't remember already lol I was still unsure if it was really it then! I think just time will tell , do you have someone with you ? Maybe call labour ward to ask just to put your mind at ease xxx

Lausch95 · 05/03/2020 23:17

Try to relax with a warm bath and if you are still experiencing pain call your midwife and let her know and see what she suggests. Keep an eye on the timing of the pains and if you notice them getting closer together I'd go in and get checked. Best wishes

BikeRunSki · 05/03/2020 23:18

Sounds like contractions starting. Do what @Lausch95 said.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 05/03/2020 23:19

can you use one of the free Contraction Timing apps to count and time them.

Give your labour ward a ring and speak to a midwife. It might just be a case of Fanny Daggers as baby is getting so big, but if the pain is taking your breath away it’s worth calling.

I saw the midwife the day after these pains started and mentioned it to her. She wasn’t too concerned just said sounds like things might be moving but if think my waters have gone or the pains get more regular to call labour ward. Baby is also 3/5 engaged but not sure even with second baby this actually means anything but I guess it could account for the contraction type pains 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m sure this baby is just wanting to tease me. Had the same happen last night - few milder contraction type pains with lower back ache. Went to bed and they got worse so decided to time them (6 mins apart, lasting around 1min each, for about an hour) then just stopped. Have had lots of pressure this morning, sharp stabbing pains when walking with every step and (TMI....... lost a few good size lumps of what looks like plug). No doubt it will all stop again soon 😂

Sounds exciting!! Hopefully won't be too much longer!
I'm currently 39 +1 and no signs of anything happening here! I do have a csection booked for Wednesday though so in a way I just want him to hold on till then. Feeling very anxious!

1Pinkfluffyelephant · 14/03/2020 19:50

@sjmco ah mine is booked for Friday. Have you had your pre op. Are you nervous and is this your first one?

I'm 37 weeks had this twice this week Braxton Hicks and period pain plus back pain went walk both times and it went away this is baby no ,3 for me and have also forgot what the real thing felt like think I'm hoping to go from 38 weeks wishful thinking lol

abbs1 · 14/03/2020 20:34

I've had a lot of braxton hicks etc and pain in my back along with really painful SPD but so far nothing more. I've got 2 sweeps booked in for next week and failing that induction at 39 weeks due to babys growth issues. I'm hoping the sweeps put me into labour if I dont go naturally as I'd like to avoid induction but I'm not holding my breath. Currently 37+3.

@1Pinkfluffyelephant I have my pre-op on Tuesday... this is my second but my first was 14 years ago and remember absolutely nothing lol

I am very nervous about the whole thing, even though my last was a csection I just feel very uneasy... I've had 3 miscarriages since my daughter so I think that might be why I'm just nervous about everything.
How are you feeling?

1Pinkfluffyelephant · 14/03/2020 21:09

Sorry to hear of your losses, it must make everything much harder and impossible to enjoy the pregnancy as much?
My pre op is Wednesday. I’m really nervous because I just don’t know what to expect in terms of the procedure and recovery - apart from what I have read online but everything varies between hospital trusts anyway. How was your experience last time?

sjmco · 14/03/2020 21:44

@1Pinkfluffyelephant yes def... haven't really enjoyed the pregnancy at all as I've always been on edge.
From what I remember the actual procedure wasn't painful in anyway and I remember it all being very quick... I do remember waking up in quite a bit of pain tho... It was all very rushed due to being an emergency so I'm guessing this time will be much easier, fingers crossed. I'm guessing this is your first?

1Pinkfluffyelephant · 25/03/2020 12:27

Hi @sjmco - how did you get on? Has baby arrived all ok?
I ended up going into labour early hours of Thursday morning, had about an hour of middle backache and my waters suddenly went around 2am, then started getting really bad contractions and dilated quickly. Got into hospital and they had theatre ready for an emergency section within 30 mins and baby arrived at 4.34. He clearly didn’t want to wait for the planned section Friday morning 😂. How are you doing? Are you healing up ok?

Awww that's great!!! He obviously wanted to come with a bang a day before! How is the recovery for you?
I'm doing well... baby came as planned on Wednesday, everything went well apart from me freaking out at every little thing! I felt much more relaxed once I saw him here and well! Recovery hasn't been too bad... I got discharged after 24 hours as we were not allowed to stay in hospital any longer. So glad we are at home nice and safe.
Named baby Joshua-James and he weighed 7.7lbs... how about yours? ☺️

1Pinkfluffyelephant · 27/03/2020 13:49

Recovery has actually been a lot better than I expected. Was up out of bed with catheter out within 6 hours - and same as you, home within 24 hours. Little bit disappointEd we couldn’t have visitors and our family haven’t met him yet due to all the lockdown/isolation etc which I am finding really hard. How did you find your C Section, was it all quite relaxed and were the staff good? I can’t believe it is all over though, seemed like the longest wait ever to meet him and now he is here, it doesn’t quite feel real yet.

sjmco · 28/03/2020 11:20

Yeah it was a little upsetting that no one could visit and still no one has met him. It's very upsetting.
To be fair it was very relaxed and the staff were brilliant. They made me feel very relaxed but I felt very on edge the whole time just like my whole pregnancy.
Glad your recovery is going well. I had staples put on mine so had to have them removed the other day but it wasn't as bad as I thought.
