Im nearly 5 weeks pregnant and already having nausea and sickness but only in the evenings/at night. I’m getting very little sleep as I wake up throwing up. Nothing in the day or morning (why they call it morning sickness I don’t know!) any tips to keep the sickness and nausea away?

Eating, keeping food in your tummy should help, I find the sickness so much worse if I let myself get hungry. A small bowl of porridge about a half hour before bed can help.

I was very nauseous in the evening as well, I found that making sure I took my pregnancy vitamins in the afternoon with lunch helped and ice lollies and lots of water as well as the sea sickness bands from boots I slept in them and they worked alot better than when I had non on to go asleep xx

I was sick overnight as well. I found not taking my folic acid before bed and, if I woke up having a plain biscuit immediately helped a bit.

I had all day sickness, but it always was worse at night. I ended up getting prescribed medication (cyclizine and then later I moved on to promethazine). Both these tablets make you drowsy so I only took them before bed - meant it kept the sickness/vomiting at bay during the night and also helped me sleep. If you are feeling really bad, I would definitely recommend speaking to your GP about medication - don't try to suffer through this! My sickness is still ongoing from 6 weeks, and I'm now 26 weeks pregnant. I don't know how I would have coped this long without the tablets to take the edge off!

I had this

Eating ginger biscuits helped me-
I would start at 6pm (having eaten small amounts during the day)

I also have had the worst nausea and vomiting at night. It is so cruel as stops any socialising! Sorry to hear you are also suffering. During the day when nausea is there but not makingg me sick, it would help to constantly nibble. Plain nuts, salty plain crackers, fruit, toast, bowl of cereal, ice lollies were the most help. I then discovered that marmite on toast would really hit the spot and keep the nausea at bay.

In evenings when it was worse and I was spewing my dinner plus some every night nothing really helped. Spewing weirdly kind of helped. I would just go to bed. I would maybe eat something plain after spewing like some bread or crackers and bit of water. Sometimes I would also throw up the water! If you're waking in the night to spew good idea to keep crackers or biscuits by your bed to eat when you wake. Have some toast or oats before bed too or a milky filling drink. x

I second the sickness bands during the night. I suffer with sickness all through the day and night, at night it was mainly nausea but anything touching my tummy (clothes, blanket etc) was making me want to be sick. The ONLY thing that stops it is the bands. During the day, nibbling, salty foods, as much water as you can manage but only in sips so it doesn't suddenly hit your stomach, ice lollies, melon. If you are actually vomiting try to eat softer foods that wont hurt too much if you do bring it up. I found that because I could never predict when it was going to happen sometimes i'd be sick and if it wasn't a soft food it would hurt so much, it's just something to help ease whats already horrible enough.

I hope it doesn't last too long for you. Congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

I had this from 4 weeks and never thought it would get better! But it did, after week 13. The only thing which helped me was the Sea Sickness bands! And plenty of water.

I hope it’s doesn’t last much longer for you!! Take care Flowers
