Has anyone had this and was there anything that helped you?
I’m struggling to get out of bed and struggling not to cry
I have a 2 year old and he’s the only reason why I do get out of bed

I’m dreading work tomorrow , can’t focus on anything

I spoke to my midwife about it and she said about referring me to the mental health team which I have done in previous pregnancy but nothing has happened yet

I saw the mental health team in my second pregnancy for panic attacks. I was prescribed xanex to take as needed, just having something as an option helped and I took one rarely.
Eventually though it was going off sick from work that helped. My brain was just not functioning in the same way and I was completely overwhelmed and couldn't concentrate. I've had the baby now and I feel my brain coming back to working order so I'm happy enough it was the pregnancy hormones and not a breakdown of some sort.

@suddenaborealstop

Thank you. Glad you found it helped once you stopped work .

When did you go off on sick?

Is it work you are anxious about or are you unsure of the cause? If the latter is the case I would strongly recommend seeing a counsellor and talking your thoughts through with them (I have an anxiety disorder myself). If you came off medication when you were pregnant perhaps you need to go back on and your GP can prescribe something suitable for pregnancy.

If work is the problem can you talk to your boss or HR to see if they can help take the pressure off? If that’s not an option getting a sick line from your GP is probably the best option.

Hypnobirthing techniques could also really help. I use them in everyday life when I feel my anxiety levels going up to stop panic attacks before they start.

@NemophilistRebel I went off at 30 weeks which took a lot for me to come to terms with as I don't like to let people down. I spoke with the counsellor and came to the conclusion that in the grand scheme of things it was a tiny amount of time to make sure myself and the baby were healthy. I worried a lot about the adrenalines effect on the baby and that led to more worry in an endless loop.

Hi there!
I'm only 20 weeks and started having anxiety for a few weeks now, I do have a stressful job at the moment I look after my 5yo by myself most of the time as DP travels a lot for work. It happens mostly at night and I suffer from insomnia..I am thinking about talking to my manager and ask for a less stressful role...I'm nervous about how this will go..anyone done it before? I do feel bad as I am new to this team and don't want to be judged..
Thanks
