Panorama or Harmony test in Exeter

Has anyone had done the Panorama test or Harmony test in Exeter area?
I asked at Nuffield but unfortunately they don't do those tests. If you did what was your experience?
From what I've see on a private clinic from London the price starts from £750 for a basic test and goes up to £1k for a more detailed test.

Can’t help with Exeter - but London you can go to the Fetal medicine centre and have harmony, viability scan and NT scan in a £400 package. They are the best of the best there and good value.

Connie222 · 02/03/2020 13:03

I’ve used them throughout all 3 pregnancies (14 weeks at mo with 3rd).

Persipan · 02/03/2020 13:39

That place upstairs in the High Street (Ultrasound Direct?) does Harmony, but I can't stand the sonographer there so I went to London and had it done at The Birth Company instead - I've had very good experiences with them. I don't think it was more than about £500, certainly nowhere near as much as you're anticipating.

@djbebe that is very expensive. If you are going the London route look at the Fetal Medicine Centre In Harley street. Prof Nicolades is one of the worlds leading Fetal medicine doctors and the people who work under him are amazing. I paid £400 four weeks ago for viability scan, harmony test, NT scan and bloods.

(I’ve also used the Birth company a few doors down in the past too under dr Gibb and they are also very good).

Viletta · 02/03/2020 20:46

Babybobd does those

Viletta · 02/03/2020 20:46

Sorry babybond they are right in town. I think the site is called ultrasound direct.

DJBebe · 05/03/2020 07:35

Booked the test (£400) with ultrasound direct/Babybond but in their website they say they are sending the test results to the patient practitioner. Does this mean that they don't discuss the results with me?
Also for the NT scan they charge separately £235.
If it wasn't with Corona virus i would've gone to London but I'm trying to take no risks.

@DJBebe let us know how it went. I think they only provide the service so can't advise on the results. You will probably have to discuss it with the midwife. NT scan can be done on nhs. Good luck!

fool11 · 05/03/2020 09:56

I had 2 harmony tests at the Fetal med centre in London (last one in Jan) ..they were great and would highly recommend. They offer a package £400 for the 10w scan, harmony blood test and 12w scan, you will receive the results by email and they will also discuss during your 12w scan...I think London is still safe..

JemJem2020 · 08/03/2020 09:23

I had my harmony test yesterday on the NHS still had to pay for it though it was discounted due to a high risk return from my quad test which is super scary! Should get the results in 5 days xx

DJBebe · 08/03/2020 10:50

I asked my midwife and she said i was not able to do the Harmony test privately in NHS. I would've only been able to do it if i had high risk results on my 13 week scan.
She also didn't have a clue about the Panorama test and was unable to give any advice on the subject. She said I'd have to do my own private research to learn about it (helpful).
Anyway i booked the Harmony test at the Fetal Med Centre, although i have to travel to London the package is better than Babybond.
Fingers crossed for a negative results.
Thank you all ladies. x

@DJBebe there was a post here that the harmony test results are not very accurate. Just in case you get some unexpected results research that area. Hope everything will be good and it'll give you the reassurance.

DJBebe · 08/03/2020 19:29

On the clinic website the advice is "The test identifies 99%, but not all, of the fetuses with trisomy 21, 97% of fetuses with trisomy 18 and 92% of fetuses with trisomy 13."
Hopefully i will get a negative result.

I had the harmony test done in December in London I know nothing about Exeter, but I was given the test on the NHS which I've since found out is basically a postcode lottery, my friend had to have this test done 6 years ago and it wasn't available on the NHS then she paid £600 and it has to be sent to America

Goldenmother · 09/03/2020 15:30

@DJBebe I got my results 3 days after my test but this was due to it being I got the result before the clinic was shut for Christmas I got a telephone call to tell me result came back low risk and then I received a letter with it all on the harmony test is 99.9% correct, I was given a scan and then blood taken the lady when she done the scan she was taking measurements told me there was nothing she could see to raise any red flags, but as I said mine was done on the NHS as my combined screening test results came back high 1-113

Goldenmother · 09/03/2020 15:34

@DJBebe also where you're having the test done privately you can find out the baby sex from this test as they test the baby's DNA if that something you want to know before your 20 weeks scan

DJBebe · 09/03/2020 18:27

Thank you @Goldenmother.
We'll keep the baby sex a surprise. It will be our 1st and it will be something to make me push harder LOL.

@Connie222 did you have an internal or an abdominal scan with your Harmony test? The appointment booking confirmation email advises that a full bladder is not required which tells me it will be a vaginal scan. But i was under the impression that after 10 weeks they only do tummy scans. I will be 10w5d.
Also is the scan performed by a male or female sonographer?

OP posts:
DJBebe · 12/03/2020 06:53

I will call the FMC to confirm but i was interested in your experience with them.

It’s an abdominal scan at 10w at fetal med center and you don’t need full bladder. Their machines are much better, that’s just my personal opinion , than in some nhs hospitals, pictures are much clearer. I had a vaginal scan there only after they couldn’t detect the heartbeat and after a vaginal scan it was confirmed that I had a mmc, was nearly 11w. I had 5 scans there and it’s always been a female.

Connie222 · 12/03/2020 07:17

@DJBebe Tummy scan. They are all female there from what I have seen over the years. They are lovely. They will make you feel so at ease, very professional. 12 week scan my baby wasn’t playing ball and they needed to check all the heart ventricles - I was In there for over an hour as she wasn’t happy with just being 99% sure it was all fine.

They like to look at everything it’s so thorough. They also make you feel really relaxed and privacy is maximum.

The equipment they use is amazing - so clear. Where
Nhs scans are fuzzy, there’s are clear as crystal, so no need for a full bladder. It’s unusual to have an internal unless they can’t see what they are looking for. My friend had an internal there at 10 weeks but she is 26stone so it was hard to get a clear look through the tummy.

Connie222 · 12/03/2020 07:19

At the end of the day, paying privately you are paying to be treated well above and beyond everything else. They will make you feel looked after.

DJBebe · 12/03/2020 07:31

@Connie222 @fool11 thank you ladies. I feel so much better. I actually look forward to it now. x
