Morning blood sugar

Is it a thing to have your blood sugar feel all over the place in the mornings?

From afternoon onwards I'm fine, but from the moment I eat anything in the morning I am dizzy, nauseous, even fainted yesterday.

It seems to last a few hours regardless of what and how much I eat/drink, and then by afternoon I'm feeling normal again.

Just wondered if this was a common thing!

(PS I'm 35 weeks this week)

Are you actually checking your sugar levels with a meter?

I sometimes feel like this. I try to make sure I eat and drink well and not do too much till after lunch. I nearly fainted in m and s last Wednesday. 35+4.
It may be worth speaking with your midwife if you're worried.

Sounds more like your blood pressure than your blood sugar. I have low blood pressure in pregnancy & I have to be really careful getting out of bed, off sofas etc as the world just goes black! I also suffer frequently with dizzy spells. It’s worse in the morning until I’ve got going, eaten & had plenty of water.

Might be worth popping to the docs & getting a morning appointment - they can check your blood pressure and also check your iron levels as anaemia can also give the exact same symptoms. Or if you are seeing your midwife soon, let her know & she can do all the same checks!

Sorry no haven't actually checked blood sugars! In fact didn't get the glucose test this pregnancy, maybe they don't do it second time round.

Blood pressure normal so that never seems to be a worry to midwife, but my iron is low so perhaps it's that! Didn't realise it had the same effect. Will keep on with the supplements...

Have low blood pressure outside of pregnancy this just feels different to any light headedness with that.

It's very unlikely to be your blood sugar levels. there are only a handful of very rare conditions which can cause hypoglycaemia, if you aren't on meds for diabetes.
As a previous poster put, it is much more likely to be your blood pressure. Unfortunately dizziness is a very common side effect of pregnancy, but it isn't dangerous, just annoying! Keep yourself well hydrated will help Smile

Thanks all. Rest and Love Is Blind it is...

If you've had gestational diabetes before they should always do a GTT again as you're far more likely to have it the second time round
