Possibly pregnant and 2 week wait for a filling

I am most likely pregnant. My period is late and I have had faint positives on pregnancy tests that turned negative for a week and are now faint positive again. I went to the dentist on Friday and I have a hole in my top molar. Problem is my appointment is not for another two weeks. Anyone had a cavity while pregnant and had a long wait? I am concerned for the health of the baby. I am drinking water after food and using mouthwash after bruising and trying to avoid eating on the side where my hole is. Dentist thinks problem was caused by me drinking honey flavoured water every night Blush so have stopped drinking that. Also how soon can I apply for maternity exemption once a pregnancy is confirmed?

I had a dentist appointment on the day I found out I was pregnant, for a filling. I had literally just found out a hour before I was in the dentist chair, and was looking quiet shocked! My dentist asked me what was wrong, and I told her. They wouldn’t do my filing, as they said there is a risk in first trimester and third, and rebooked it for when I will hopefully be 14 weeks. She said it was a good job I said something. I don’t know if this is the case with all dentists, they may have a different policies, or if it’s because I’m high risk.

As for medical exemption, I think this is completed on the midwife booking appointment. Usually around 8 weeks.

Your maternity exemption form can be obtained from your midwife at booking in, probably around 8wks pg. Not sure you can backdate it to before a pregnancy is confirmed though and charges will stand from initial diagnosis date.
I had an open hole in my tooth all throughout my last pregnancy due to needing a root canal. Your dentist may do a temporary fix with the main work being completed after pregnancy x

I had a filling at 6w, got my maternity exception after midwife's appointment at 8w. I don't have an nhs dentist and there is no clinic that accepts new patients so effectively I can't use free dentist.

in the kindest way - you need to get a grip if you want to get through the whole 9 months.Smile

nothing will happen to your baby because you wait for a filling.

I needed a filling at my last check up but had just found out I was pregnant and dentist advised I'd have to wait until second trimester to have it due to small risk. Not sure if that was local anaesthetic or whatever filling is made from.

My exemption cert came after 8 week booking appt with midwife.

I'm a dental nurse, I had a rct canal done in my previous pregnancy at 30 weeks. Its absoloutly fine to wait 2 weeks for your filling. It's all fine to have dental work done including local anaesthetic too, the only thing a dentist will not do is take xrays whilst pregnant. That said ask for a different material if the dentist offers you an amalgam (silver) filling 👍🏽
The flavoured water like your dentist said is as bad a fizzy juice really but of course have whatever helps you feel better whilst pregnant x
