Hi

My wife has just started suffering from shortness of breath, is this normal?

No, certainly not at 14 weeks. Worth getting checked for anemia?

chocolate26 · 27/02/2020 10:20

I'm 24 weeks and I started getting short of breath at about 21 weeks, I went to my doctor who took some blood and it turned out I was aneamic. Definitely get checkout out!

No, she needs to go and see her GP, particularly if she has any pain on inhalation either side. X

I’ve had this since week 11 ( now 17), I had a pulmonary embolism. she should definitely get checked out for anemia or a PE. I had all the tests done to rule this out within 24 hours. Please make sure she gets checked out. However they did say it is a symptom of pregnancy but not many suffer from it.

It can be very normal! I had it, was told by my midwife it is because of increased progesterone.

PippinStar · 27/02/2020 10:55

I had it in my last pregnancy and also in this one from maybe 5 or 6 weeks. Like a pp, my doctor told me it was a side effect of increased progesterone. It could also be from low iron, or something else, so she should call her doctor just in case.

Thanks all,

She has been to see the doctor and all seems ok, he said it might be because her womb has grown causing everything to get squished but she is going back next week for blood tests

Every woman is different. I'm 16 weeks and have had this for a few weeks now....I'm like an old woman some days!
I told the midwife but she wasn't overly concerned at this stage.
