Hi ladies as I haven't seen my midwife since around 9 weeks it has completely slipped my mind that I haven't had my flu jab yet. I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and feeling really worried now, anyone else not had theirs yet and is it still worthwhile having as I don't know when the end of flu season is?

Contact your midwife to see if u can still get it.ive had it past 4x ive been pregnant. I know it came out sep/oct dont know when the cut off is but flu is going around so i think u should be able to still get it.

IslayBrigid · 26/02/2020 17:12

I don't have mine yet, I booked in to get it next week, as doctor didn't have a slot until then! I will be 14 weeks... I am actually a little nervous to get it that it could harm the baby but I'm sure I'm being silly.

sel2223 · 26/02/2020 18:53

You can have it up till April so still go and get it as it gives baby some immunity when they are born!
I only went for mine 2 weeks ago when I was 14 weeks

Beau2020 · 26/02/2020 19:00

I had mine a couple of weeks ago so you should be fine! The next round is October she told me xx

I'm not pregnant now but I was around the time they were recommending women got it because of swine flu. Had it far later than 15 weeks. Get it done- v important x

I've had it when pregnant twice. No side effects apart from sore arm. Do it for both you and the baby. It's a particularly rough flu season this year.

PixieDustt · 26/02/2020 19:10

I didn't have any side effects from the flu jab. It isn't a live vaccine I was told. Just a sore arm!

sel2223 · 26/02/2020 19:12

Just a sore arm for a good 3 days

Beau2020 · 26/02/2020 20:51

@Bellsx nope absolutely fine just soreish arm!

123456kent · 26/02/2020 21:04

No side effects and i did see a doctor saying that a person who got coronavirus may have been affected more mildly because they had a fly jab. May be an absolute load of bull but it would be enough to make me go and get mine asap if I didnt have it already.

Roxy8203 · 26/02/2020 23:32

I got the jab a few weeks ago at boots. I didn't have to pay as I'm pregnant, I just took the form with me. I booked online maybe worth seeing if there mmmm my still offer it

Avocado2020 · 26/02/2020 23:40

I had my flu jab at 13 weeks of pregnancy, became poorly for a while but was fine. Then had the whooping cough jab at 18 - All was fine.

No need to worry!(:

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 27/02/2020 03:16

You can have it done at a pharmacy so no need for appointment. No side effects it’s not a live vaccine.
