My back is agony

I think I've done something to it at work at the weekend and today it feels like it is going to lock up at the slightest movement. Can anyone help me please, is there anything I can take other than paracetamol?

I have suffered with back pain and sciatica since I became pregnant with my son 12 years ago. It is at its worst when I'm stood for long periods or bending frequently. I used to use ibuprofen & gels but now I'm pregnant again I try to manage it by listening to my body, sitting down when and where I can and spend a lot of time with a hot water bottle when seated at home. Sorry I can't be more helpful!

I had to use ibuprofen and deep heat as I was in agony - sometimes you just can't take the pain so you may need to give in and use the least bad option.

I ended up with a slipped disc so was given codeine, morphine, tramadol and co-codamol in hospital but once I was released, I was expected to manage on paracetamol.
If you do end up in hospital or under the GP, the most likely painkiller to be given is codeine as it is less harmful than the others but a risk of baby getting addicted. As your pregnancy draws to an end, they will be less worried about risk to baby and addiction so are more likely to prescribe. I've been heavily medicated by the hospital over the past few weeks and my baby was born perfectly healthy 4 days ago.

@stuckinthemiddlewithtwats I was initially prescribed tramadol, codeine and cocodamol, all made me feel spaced out, sick and out of control, this was years ago though. I also had Physio, nothing helped, it’s impossible to explain the pain. Are you pain free now?

Well I'm just lying on a mattress on the floor now because my own bed was making my back unbearable when I got up to the toilet not long ago. I took 2 paracetamol earlier and they helped abit at the time but don't seem to be working now and I dont want to take any more yet. I'm OK as long as I don't move Confused

@Flipflops23 sorry didn't realise you'd replied.

Sadly no, I'm not pain free. Once I was discharged with the baby the day after completing a 3 day labour they pretty much washed their hands of dealing with my pain. I'm now in more pain as my stitches tore open and the doctors won't re-stitch.
I had both an epidural and spinal block (put into my slipped disc) that I was attached to for 2 days so my back is complete agony over a week later. All they can suggest is paracetamol and wait a couple of months to recover.

What angered me most is that when I told them they were putting the spinal block into my slipped disc, I was told 'well you won't feel it in a minute, will you!'. Total disregard for the pain I would feel afterwards.
