So I am 35+5 with a 19 month old toddler, and as if that isn't bad enough I am getting braxton hicks 3 or 4 times a day for about an hour each. How do I stop the damn things?! resting etc works but then they come back again a few hours later so I am not getting anything done in case I set them off again (well, any excuse)
They dont hurt but they mean I have to sit up straight and cant get comfy so are a pain in teh arse
Plus I am getting pains around my CS scar under my bump and it feels like LO has engaged already as feel heavy.
I can't take another 4 weeks of not being able to move properly!!!!!

I have had enough of being pregnant but I don't want ehr to come out yet!

Oh Chirpy I don't think you can stop them sorry
It is horrendous at this time, can't get comfy, aches and pains everywhere etc, but there's not a lot you can do except sit it out I'm afraid.

Don't think they are supposed to last an hour each are they? I thought mine were bad but they only last about thirty seconds.

Probably means you will have a very quick labour! (Sorry, guess all you can do is look on the bright side).

Good luck.

make sure you are drinking enough , as being dehydrated can make them worse

also, avoid anything like raspberry leaf that can stimulate the uterus

Chirpygirl · 05/09/2007 19:24

Shall try drinking (water of course), I didn't know that, thanks lulumama!

I don't know about short labour, with DD she was footling breech so I was 4cm and contracting (but not very strong) every 20 minutes for 2 (count em) days before I had my CS!

ach, this one will fly out, my darling, you;ll see ! all those BH are good for something

emj23 · 05/09/2007 19:28

I'm getting loads of BH at the moment too, I'm 36+3 and they are getting very strong and uncomfortable. I'm sorry I don't have any advice, although I have found that drinking water does help a bit too. Much sympathy to you though, and at least there's not that long left

Could suggest that this could actually go on for another 6 weeks!! - but i wouldn't wish that on anyone!

Drinking water is a good start, I believe I heard the great phrase "A thirsty uterus, is a painful uterus" somewhere on Mumsnet!!!

Have to say i'm slightly , if all these people saying BHs are good practice for the uterus - I've had hardly any and when I do, they're really not painful and I'm 36+4 now - really don't want to be in for a 41 week pregnancy!!

{Don't worry though, I'm suffering enough from bad pelvic pain, which is actually pretty constant throughout the day and night, so I'm not getting off that lightly either!!}

Take care and i hope they calm down for you.
xx
