Worried about Pug's reaction to new baby

I am only 9 weeks pregnant but have concerns about my pug. I have had her for three years, adopted her when she was 2 years old from a cruel background. She is basically like my baby, follows me everywhere and always sits on my lap. Currently she sleeps at the side of my bed on the floor but comes in the bed sometimes for cuddles. I am worried about how she is going to react to a new born but particularly concerned with sleeping arrangements. I know that it is best to sort sleeping arrangements before the baby comes but don't know what to do for the best. Any suggestions?

I've got a chihuahua cross, same as you, he has a bed next to my bed, but would come snuggle with dh and I.
At about 28 weeks when I finally started to show and ds started to move about our poor pup got kicked a few times while cuddling me. He stopped getting in bed with us, and still will only cuddle up to dh in bed, but won't sleep in our bed anymore, ds is now 7 months old.

How is your pup when you're around other small dogs or other people's children? Does she get jealous, or is she nonplussed?

I'm just thinking about day time for the 3 of you, would she be with you and baby on the sofa/floor, or will she be in her own bed sleeping?

There are books you can buy about how to prepare a dog for the arrival of a baby. It includes things like CD’s of babies crying. Get the dog used to different smells, and buy a baby sized doll, and start cuddling it, so the pug has to wait. Reward with favourite treats.

Perhaps start crate or pen training now.

If you do it now, hopefully the dog won’t link the changes to the actual babies arrival.
