When to buy a buggy?

Hey all.

After a bit of Advice, I’m 17 weeks and my local baby store has offered me the display buggy of what i want in the colour I want at £250 off. (Cybex Priam in perfect condition)

I would have to pay upfront but they will store it for me until I’m ready for it when I’m 34ish weeks.
But they do only have 1 available at this price.

But my sister said it’s too early and I should wait until 24 weeks but financially, that doesn’t give me enough time b4 I go on mat leave to pay it off.

Do I miss out on this offer as it’s too soon
Or purchase it knowing it’s not being kept in the house anyway.

When did you all buy your buggy’s?

Xx

Amazing! Enjoy it - I really think it's such a lovely pram!

reanne01 · 25/02/2020 21:01

I was naughty and ordered my pram when I was 10 weeks 🙄 I'm very impatient but it also gave me time to pay it off before baby comes x

essexanon · 25/02/2020 21:46

@reanne01 wow that really was early. But I totally get it, they aren’t cheap. This is why I want to get it early.
Surely, not everyone that’s bought a buggy early has ended up with something bad happening to the baby.
I loosely follow superstitions but I’m pretty sure there’s loads of people that bought buggy’s early or walked under ladders that lived to tell the tale x

@thosethreewords I literally cannot wait! It’s so beaut! Xx

@essexanon I'm very superstitious but I'm now 25 weeks and baby is perfect healthy ! It's supposed to be if you bring it into the house before baby's born I think x

WinterCat · 25/02/2020 21:48

I bought a pram early for DD1 and another one for DD2. All was fine. I didn’t buy one for DD3 and she died. So trust me when I say buying a pram won’t harm your baby.

whiskersonkittenss · 26/02/2020 00:41

thought I'd add onto my previous comment re not buying early incase something went wrong, I'm not superstitious, I just didn't want to be lumbered with an expensive item if anything bad did happen. I'd probably ask the shop 'what if' this happened, would they refund/buy back at all, and what's the guarantee on the pram as you won't be using it for a long time yet, if there's a fault that's only apparent once you use it outside, have a real baby in it etc.

Caspianberg · 26/02/2020 08:08

@essexanon - ah ok I see. Strange the 10% wasn't valid as we did a large order from there and everything was included.

regarding when to buy, it doesn't make any difference to baby health. Its mainly space wise for some people. We bought ours around 26 weeks

LondonKate · 26/02/2020 11:25

I rather liked not buying a pram before the baby was born - lots of new horns really hate being in them... You quite often see tired parents pushing along expensive prams while carrying a little baby! It can be a good idea to see what sort of baby you have - do you need a pram at all or would it be better to wait until they are pushchair age?

essexanon · 26/02/2020 11:59

@londonkate it’s a travel system so we would use the carrycot and car seat attached to the chassis mostly up until around 6-8months.

essexanon that's what LondonKate means. Some babies HATE the carry cot of a pram - DS did, we never used it. Some babies hate their carseat too (yep, DS again). Also remember that babies aren't supposed to be in the carseat for more than 30minutes until 6 weeks, then 2 hours after that, whether in the car or on the pram.

csmw · 26/02/2020 17:52

Not sure if the same but online4baby have cybex priam platinum lux with car seat and base for £649 it's in lots of colours

LulusMiniEgg · 26/02/2020 20:01

Cybex Platinum isn’t allowed to be discounted online... if you call retailers up they will give you a better price Wink

@squee123 yes it’s affecting EVERYTHING! I wouldn’t be surprised if egg & iCandy are completely out of stock in a month or so until about August/Sept. same with Silver cross and many other brands. It’s quite scary how much we depend on China!

essexanon · 26/02/2020 20:51

@csmw aww man, I love some of those colours but I really want the rose gold chassis. I think these are pre 2019 editions which was before they bought out the different chassis colours. Xx

@LulusMiniEgg this is one of the ones I saw says it's reduced by £500 not sure if that's cheap or not.
