Anterior Placenta and Movement

Hey All

I had a private scan at 17 weeks and was told that I had an anterior placenta. I am now 19 weeks with my first pregnancy and have still not felt any movement. Im being told that sometimes in first pregnancies they dont have until between 20 and 24 weeks and with anterior placentas it can be much later. Does anyone have any experience of this as its really making my anxiety crazy

Thanks
Jane

Yep I thought I felt flutters at 17 weeks but could have been wind as I didn't feel proper movement til 22 weeks due to anterior placentor. Now at 36 plus 2 I feel him all the time it's lovely

MrsJaneyp · 24/02/2020 17:51

thanks so much for getting back to me @jesskir89 its been making me super worried about my scan at 20 weeks. the flutters that you thought you felt were they regular or one offs so wind more likely

I have an anterior as well, movements started about 21 weeks but were irregular until about 24 weeks. Now I’m 25 weeks and feel her throughout the day Smile don’t worry, it’ll come!

Mine just started at 22 weeks. Also anterior placenta. :)

I have an anterior placenta and first felt proper kicks at 24 weeks. Now I'm 32 weeks and I feel him all the time. But there are still days his movements seem reduced (I always get them checked out) but it's usually because the placenta is cushioning the kicks. I know some women with anterior placentas haven't felt their babies properly until 28 - 30 weeks. My midwife says it's nothing to worry about until 24 weeks.

I have anterior too. I started feeling flutters at 20wks and now a week on its more frequent and some little kicks. X

Jesskir89 · 24/02/2020 18:31

Op it wasn't regular just once or twice you might have had them yourself and not realised but I had 20 week scan at 20 plus 6 and started to feel him about a week later. I know it's hard but try not to worry and if you are private scans are a good way of reasurring you. Groupon have good deals on :)

I had anterior placenta with my first and didn't feel the kicks until 21/22 weeks. By the time I was 32 weeks I could SEE movements on my stomach 😁

csmw · 24/02/2020 19:11

I have one too and I would say it was about 22 weeks before I could feel definite kicks. I'm 34+6 now and still only feel them at the sides as the placenta is cushioning most of the front of my stomach.

MamaMama20 · 24/02/2020 21:41

I felt movements about 21 weeks (anterior placenta) and even then it was one of them when I wasnt 100% sure. I was quite a few weeks later when I properly noticed them

MilkyMum23 · 24/02/2020 21:47

Had an Anterior Placenta on both of my pregnancies - didn't feel any movement until approx. 24 weeks on the first, and 22 weeks on the second. Had a few scares with reduced movement on my second in the third trimester - when I was in the hospital the midwives were asking me if I could feel the movement while we could see it on the monitor and I couldn't! When you see the size of the placenta at birth it will all make more sense why you couldn't feel much - they're massive! Try not to worry :)

PunchyAnts · 24/02/2020 21:49

I had an anterior placenta with first baby. Can't remember the exact number of weeks but I have a funny feeling it was possibly even later - as late as 23 weeks before I felt any kicks. As PP has said, they will come and before too long you'll be able to see them earthside! Don't worry, just look forward to those wonderful little baby dances.

PrinnyPree · 24/02/2020 21:50

Yep anterior placenta and not so much as a bubble till week 20 gradually getting stronger now I'm getting booted around at week 27 anterior or not lol even my husband can feel them now _ xxx

mineofuselessinformation · 24/02/2020 21:51

DC1 had an anterior placenta.
I didn't feel anything for sure until nearly 22 weeks, when I had a good kick in the bladder! 🙂

bonzo77 · 24/02/2020 21:54

I’ve had 2 anterior and one posterior. The anterior ones (my first two pregnancies) I started feeling at about 23/24 weeks. The posterior at about 16 weeks. Huge difference. The last one felt sooo much more active and uncomfortable than the others. Used to make me feel quite unwell.

mummabubs · 24/02/2020 21:55

Another one here who had an anterior placenta and although the odd squiggle there was no definite "kick" until 22+1. Hang on in there! X
