Anyone given birth in Guy's and St Thomas? (London)

Hey,

Before I was pregnant I was pretty anxious and suffered from Claustrophobia, since being pregnant this has became worse (though I'm looking to get help with it)

I went to the hospital last week and found it really hard going to 8th floor in a lift and not having any windows or fresh air and am now worried about going back.

Has anyone given birth here before and wouldn't mind me asking a few questions?

Thanks!

All delivery/antenatal Chelsea&Westminster is on the 3rd floor and it’s quite an open building with a large atrium with stairs and escalators. Would say that most if not all rooms have a window either to outside or to the atrium. If you are looking to compare hospitals.

Most labour/postnatal rooms at any hospital will not have the ability to open the windows as they are purposefully kept warm for the newborn babies.

I gave birth in the labour ward 2 years ago. I know what you mean about the lifts etc. I find it quite claustrophobic in the lift areas as they take ages to arrive and the stairs are shut. I got really dizzy waiting around for the lifts at my 12 week scan. The scan areas are also very dark.

however, the labour rooms are HUGE. We had windows all down one side with beautiful views over London. I don't think the windows open but I gave birth during a heat wave and it was fine temperature wise. Regarding the lifts/labour..., I still have no idea how I made it from the the car to the labour ward. I was almost fully dialated .. yet somehow walked from the far corner of the car park to the lift lobby. I do vaguely remember a doctor telling me just to use the theatre lift and not wait for another. But I made it fine and my waters broke in the reception of the labour ward. You will be fine o the day. Good luck x
