looking for advice, i'm a first time mum so everything is all new to me

I'm 35 and a half weeks and have gestatinal diabeties so i'm checked every 2 weeks by the hospital.
my alarm for work goes off at 7, i woke up at 5 and couldnt get back to sleep to stayed awake, from 5 o'clock to 7 i never felt her move once, i got a bit worried so i took a cold drink and eat some toast and still nothing. at about 8 o'clock this morning i felt her move about a little. she is usually really active in the morning when i'm getting ready for work so i called the MAT assesement unit and explained, she said 3 hours is not enough time to start worrying and i was to eat something sugary, i explained i couldnt as my GD and i was concerned as i felt something was wrong, she told me again its not enough time to cause concern just yet... i felt quite fobbed off and she made me feel a bit silly for calling
I have headed to work and drinking cold water, she is moving about a little but her movements are defo reduced?
Should i just show up to the MAT assessment ward or am i being overly anxious...

Glad you went to get checked, OP.

Thanks for everyone's advice, she is fine ( phew ) once i got to the hospital and on the monitor she started kicking away like crazy lol, i did say to the midwife that examined me when i called the woman made me feel silly, the midwife apologized and said they would always rather check you and it be fine x

So glad to hear the good news!

Really glad you went in to get checked and I’m shocked that you got that advice in the first place! If your baby is not moving as they usually should then ALWAYS go to be monitored, how someone can say 3 hours isn’t cause to worry baffles me...anything could have happened if you would have waited, I wonder what she would have considered a length of time for cause for concern to be.
This is not good practice and she should have told you to come in straight away.

I know hopefully it dosnt happen again but if it does i'm trusting my gut and going in straight away, i have a consultant appointment with my GD doctor on Friday i'm going to mention it there about the midwife telling me to take something sugary and also it wasnt enough time for concern because i'd hate to think someone was given the wrong advice and something bad happened :(

Absolutely mention it. I'm glad all is well, NHS guidelines clearly state not to hesitate in acting as you did. When I had my last baby a couple of years ago, the time guide in self monitoring was half an hour, so I'm not sure why the midwife you spoke to was under the impression that 3 hours wasn't enough time to note anything amiss. Even if you can feel movements, but they're different than usual, then it needs investigating.
