Hi all,
After some advice please. I have been training for a marathon and am now 5 weeks + 2.
The marathon is in 6 weeks time.
My doctor and my trainer at the gym have said it's fine to run as long as I'm not trying to break any records or push myself too hard. I know I need to listen to my body and only do what feels right. Has anyone had experience running distance while pregnant? X

Hi I've not been training for that distance but have been running regular 10ks - if your doctor says you should be fine and you've been training for it regularly I think you should be fine but don't be afraid to slow down or walk or drop out or even see if you can swap to a smaller distance

If you've been training for it and Dr okayed it you'll be fine.

Best tips I can give you are trying to make sure you carb load enough in the days leading up to it (even if the nausea/ morning sickness kicks in!) , keep testing your gels of choice to make sure they still agree with your stomach, or swap to jelly sweets / shotblokz and I found by 10/ 11 weeks I needed extra "bump" support to run , even though I didnt have a visible bump so I used KT tape and it made the world of difference! Good luck!

My friend ran a marathon at 13 weeks, she was a regular running and had trained sensibly.

Thanks everyone!
Went on a very slow 20 mile training run yesterday and it felt ok. I was tired by the end but mostly as we'd taken it slow and so I was on my feet for a long time!
I'm just going to see how I go and make a decision nearer the time. I guess it will all depend how I feel in the next few weeks.
Not going to do anything that outs either of us at risk, so will just take each day slowly x

I think it's amazing that you can keep running and go for it. I wasn't doing anything like marathon distances, but I stopped in first trimester due to feeling sick and never got back into it. The advice always seems to be that you can keep doing what is normal for you, so if this is normal then why not keep going.
