6+1/6+2 scan - Will they be able to tell me if I have miscarried?

I know a loss of symptoms does not mean anything, but in the last 48 hours I have just felt so different. I have gone from being bed ridden for two weeks to feeling full of energy. My symptoms have near enough gone although I had a period of quite bad cramping last night.

I am 5+5 and contemplating getting an early scan done. The available dates will have me at 6+1 or 6+2. I know a heartbeat is not always guaranteed at this point, but regardless would they be able to tell me if I have had a miscarriage? I see some people saying that at this point they were told there was a sac or a yolk but I don’t quite know what any of this means.

It’s not 100% but they should be able to tell hun. They will be able to see the sac see that that is all as it should be and by then should be able to see a beat aswell. I really hope your ok and baby xxx

I can’t answer your question... But I’ve gone from having cramps every day, tired, feeling nauseous all day, to wanting to run a marathon today! So your not alone. I’m 5 weeks.
I’ve suffered from MCs previously, where Ive had no symptoms of pregnancy, to all of a sudden start bleeding, and others where I’ve been told the baby hasn’t developed and their is no heartbeat.
I have a scan booked with the EPAU at 6+3, due to my history, and was told this was the earliest they could detect a heartbeat. Hope that helps a little.

Depending on whether your dates are right they should be able to see a sac and fetal pole, possibly a heartbeat but they may not. At 6+1 we saw everything and a little heartbeat.

They would just tell you to go back a week or 2 later to confirm anyway.
Before 6 weeks, you don't always see anything other than an empty sac even in a healthy pregnancy and you won't necessarily see a heartbeat before 7 weeks.
Going this early could just raise more questions and make you feel even more anxious.

Then there's the date thing, what if you're not as far on as you think you are? I went for an early scan thinking I was 7+5 and was actually 11 days behind where I thought I was! Your LMP is just a guide and not accurate if you have cycles longer than 28 days and/or you ovulate late.

I'm 15+2 now and my symptoms have been coming and going constantly so it's not necessarily anything to worry about. Seriously, if you're not bleeding, try and hold out for another couple of weeks if you can.

I had a transvaginal scan at 6+0 and they could see the sac, the baby (a white bean shape) and the heartbeat. There's no guarantee, but the baby grows very quickly at that stage so even if they can't see a heartbeat they could certainly measure it and see if it's measuring correctly.

@GBBO45
Hi, I've also had these sudden bursts of energy where I don't feel pregnant anymore but things creep back and it's just hormones usually. I had an early scan due to previous MMC and the private clinic advised they would be able to see if something wasnt quite right in terms of eptopic. I went for a scan 7wks and saw a clear picture with heartbeat.. if you can wait 7 you get a more defined answer.

@LilMrsS I agree that 7 weeks is so different to 6 weeks - I had to have 2 early NHS scans due to pain, and at 6 weeks it was just a little blob of white, at 7+2 we could see a clear head, body, arm and leg buds and heartbeat (pic attached).
