I'm 15 weeks and getting my appetite back a little. Really want lots of naughty things, deli meats, stinky cheese, runny omelettes.
Anybody have a recipe for carbonara that's friendly? I tried a ready meal and the craving is still unsatisfied!
Have any ideas on how I can combat the need for salty cured meats?
What are you guys eating? Maybe I can try something new?

Cured meats can be frozen for four days then placed back in fridge and eaten fresh. According to the NHS website. And any naughty cheeses just need to be cooked to be okay. Plus any cured meats its the same as long as cooked they're fine.
Plus as long as UK lion code eggs you can have them nowadays.

I'll see if I can find the correct links to NHS info.

Assuming you're in the UK, but the NHS says you can have runny eggs now if they are red lion marked, which has changed since by pregnancy 3 years ago.

And deli meats are okay unless you mean salami and Parma ham type meats? But you can freeze those to make them safe if you don't want to cook them

When you said dangerous foods, I imagined lion steak or a fillet of shark Sri snapping at you!

@loislitteslover love that idea. 😂 of dangerous foods

Basically everything is fine if cooked! And lion marked eggs are okay to have runny. So just have a hot runny omelette with deli meat and stinky cheese Smile

One of my go-tos at the moment, is poached eggs, on sourdough with (previously frozen) parma ham.
Mmmmmm, so good!

Baked camembert, til its gooey and bubbly also hits the spot.

Wow I didn't know runny eggs were now allowed! Yesterday I ordered an English breakfast at a cafe, forgot I was pregnant for a moment and started eating the fried eggs. That's good to know.
@Lillyanne13 for the carbonara, you use lardons, pancetta or bacon that you fry in a pan so it's okay. The authentic recipe has a raw egg in the sauce but I guess it's better to avoid it. For the cream, use creme fraiche that you add at the last moment when the pasta is cooked. I like to add mushrooms too that I fry with the lardons

Your responses are so helpful! Advice seems to have changed so much since my last pregnancy in 2015!
I will definitely be trying that carbonara recipe, I'll be off to Tesco for the ingredients this evening.

Carbonara doesn't contain cream. The egg is added to the hot pasta and is lightly cooked by the residual heat but if it is lion stamped then this is perfectly safe.

Lion-stamped eggs have been approved as safe to eat raw or lightly cooked since 2016.
