Heyo, so I'm 17 years old and panicking slightly. I've been having symptoms abnormal to my usual cycle the last 2 weeks or so (nausea, headaches, insane hunger, fatigue, cramping etc..) after a slip up during sex. Apologies for the tmi but after sex last night I noticed very light bleeding, only visible on a tissue and today I'm bleeding heavier but still light, far lighter than my usual period would be. This is around the time I usually get my period but with all the other symptoms I've had I'm not sure whether I can relax or if this may be something else. Sorry if this sounds ridiculous, just need to advice.

The only thing you can do is to take a test.
I have always found First Response to be very good.
Please talk to someone in real life for support and advice.

We can’t possibly know- but can you get a pregnancy test? Some schools or colleges have them available or the pound shop ones are fine as well if your period is due.
Don’t panic yet- is there an adult you can talk to? My daughter was pregnant at 17 and has a lovely little boy now. It’s bloody tough but it’s not the end of the world. Neither is choosing to end a pregnancy- but you need support either way. If you can’t talk to your own mum what about an aunt or your boyfriends mum?

Buddyelf · 21/02/2020 13:06

Agree with the others I’m afraid you’ll only know once you take a test. Try not to panic until then. Do you have someone who could maybe go with you and sit with you while you do the test?

annamarie07 · 21/02/2020 13:07

Isadora2007- (not sure how to respond to people on here sorry!!) I could possibly talk to my mum about it though I'm not sure how positive the outcome would be. Is it worth getting a doctors appointment soon as possible? Or just trying with a home test? Thanks for responding!

Get yourself a pregnancy test. If you get a positive result and you're still bleeding then get yourself to the doctors (or call 111 which may be best) as you might need a scan.

Get a home test. Pound shop ones are fine. But make sure you don't wee for a couple of hours beforehand, it needs to be strong. That's why they recommend the first wee of the day.

Take a pregnancy test first. Get yourself to the doctor if you're still bleeding & it is positive. Talk to your mum. Try not to panic. I had my DS when I was 17, it all worked out & now I have a lovely toddler.

Hope you're ok op.

Buddyelf- I've talked it through with my boyfriend as I took a test way too early and it came out negative. He told me to let him know if I'm worried about it again and he'll come with me to sort it (whether the doctors or another test) but I feel awful for dragging him through it too, especially if it's just me being ridiculous!

When was the last time you took a test?

annamarie07 · 21/02/2020 13:20

Mummysharn-Just over a week ago I think

Take a test ASAP, was the too early test on a different occasion or have you taken one already?

The sooner that you find out, the more options will be available to you, good luck!

TokyoSushi · 21/02/2020 13:22

Ah Ross Post, take another one, today if possible!

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 21/02/2020 13:22

Another one saying take a test. I had my DD at 19 and she is a gorgeous 6yo now so I understand how accidents happen.

TokyoSushi · 21/02/2020 13:22

Cross!! 🙄

smeerf · 21/02/2020 13:25

Bleeding after sex can also be a symptom of an STI, which is the other possible result of a condom malfunction, so I'd have a look at local GUM clinics and get a checkup there just in case.

smashandpeas · 21/02/2020 13:26

Doctors tests are no more accurate than the ones you can buy in the supermarket so I would go and buy and test and see what they says. We're you tracking your cycle beforehand?

annamarie07 · 21/02/2020 13:45

smashandpeas- Sort of! I've been trying to keep track for a couple of months but just when my period comes not ovulation and all that.

Take a home test.

A lot of GP's don't do anything pregnancy related now unless there is a problem.... they don't confirm the pregnancy, they just refer you straight on to the local midwide unit after you've had a positive home test.

Babyshine2020 · 21/02/2020 14:23

If you feel better OP you can go to a pharmacy and they can do the test for you!

No matter what the outcome is your boyfriend sounds like he's there for you.

annamarie07 · 21/02/2020 15:54

Bleedings got heavier throughout the day, think I'm in the clear-thanks for all the advice!

Still take a test to be sure. It's less likely but if you are having an early miscarriage you're need checks to make sure everything has passed. I really hope not but best to be sure.
