So i'm 30 weeks today and thankfully I've felt very good in the 2nd trimester. I sleep well, no aches or pains, no heartburn, nothing! Most of the time unless he's kicking me i forget i'm pregnant, especially at night when i prop my bump up with a pillow i don't feel pregnant at all!
The only thing i get is tired and that's not every day and easily coped with. I'm still going to the gym as pre pregnancy i used to work out lifting weights 6 days a week, and still managing twice a week doing lighter weights but still doing some strength training. I'm putting my easy ride up till now down to exercise.

I know i'm very lucky and not wanting to rub it in but i'm not expecting to get this easy ride the last 10 or so weeks.

I'm just wondering when did everyone start to get more aches, symptoms, feel worse, slow down ect?

Well done for still going to the gym! My whole pregnancy I was lazy and did NO exercise whatsover (having previously gone always)

For me, my energy zapped towards the very end of pregnancy just as I was leaving work for maternity leave - 37 weeks. My hips were so sore and I couldnt walk as fast as I usually did and had to physically drag myself out of bed everyday. TBH I think it was mental as I knew I was about to leave work so my body relaxed majorly. Grin the worst week was 38 weeks and then I gave birth at 39+2. Take it easy x

I had a dip around 33/34 weeks but that was partly because it was so hot (last summer's heatwave) and I was busy at work. It lasted a week or so and then I perked up a lot and was fine until the end. Was still swimming, doing 10,000 steps, out and about etc.

albus55 · 21/02/2020 10:27

I'm 35 weeks now and I'd say I've started to really feel it the last week. Just a lot slower and heavier all of a sudden and think it is down to the fact the baby has dropped. I think once their head starts to get lower and lower everything gets a bit more difficult and uncomfortable purely because they feel like they're gonna drop out any minute!

Keha · 21/02/2020 10:38

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that you carry on feeling like this. My experience is that I felt pretty good through the 2nd trimester and then have been surprised by how tough the last part of the 3rd trimester has been. I would say from about 32 weeks I started finding I was struggling to sleep due to needing a wee and couldn't turn over, started getting hip and pelvis pain. That meant I was a lot more tired which makes everything else worse. At 35/36 weeks pain and lack of sleep had got quite bad and also getting carpal tunnel in my hands/wrists, swollen ankles etc. I'm nearly 39 weeks now and feel very heavy, achey, tired and lacking in energy. Some of it is mental/emotional as well. I've started to get more emotional, and it gets hard work waiting for baby to come. I have stopped doing much exercise. Keep going with what you can, but also don't be harsh on your self if it gets harder in the next few weeks.

ejmay90 · 21/02/2020 10:43

Thanks everyone!

So looks like i may have a few more weeks of feeling good, fingers crossed!

I just find it crazy at 30 weeks i still feel not pregnant apart from this bump and kicks!

I was the same as you and it remained that way all through out pregnancy. Just one of the luckier ones I suppose

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 21/02/2020 11:27

Im 36 weeks and feel so heavy.

Still going to the gym and going swimming though. Swimming is an actual god send, because it takes all the weight off knees.

ejmay90 · 21/02/2020 11:53

@PixieDustt really? hoping i'll stay that way then!!

@ejmay90 Good to hear your still going to the gym, can i ask what your able to do at 36 weeks? I don't feel heavy at all, i thought i would by now but baby is breech currently.

I was doing pretty good until 34 weeks (never really had any pregnancy 'symptoms'). At that point pregnancy insomnia kicked in and since then it's got steadily worse including; lightening crotch, vomitting, swollen legs and ankles, carpal tunnel... All the joys! Lol I'm still doing one session a week at the gym, plus walking the dog and mucking out/lightly exercising the horse but I'm definitely doing everything at a much slower pace! Currently 38+4 and can't wait for him to arrive so I can get my lung capacity back Grin

T0rt0ise · 21/02/2020 12:12

Would also add I finished work at the beginning of this week which has definitely helped eased the swollen legs and lightening crotch thankfully!

PooWillyBumBum · 21/02/2020 12:13

I hated the first/second trimester because I was so sick. Now I’m 41 weeks pregnant and feel amazing. Full of energy, no swelling or pains (apart from braxton hicks and cervical pressure), finding it all very easy.

My first pregnancy I was really young and didn’t feel pregnant at all at any point. You may get away with it!

flissity · 21/02/2020 12:16

@ejmay90 is it your first?
I am sure I felt a bit like that with first. Not so with 3rd.. think I just don't get much down time, so by the time the 2 dd's are in bed i just am pretty overtired and achy!
I'm 26/27 weeks now, and definitely have achy hips and not sleeping well due to just not being comfy!
Still managing gym though, weight training and pilates proba average twice a week realisitically!

ejmay90 · 21/02/2020 12:53

@T0rt0ise Ohh no that doesn't sound good lol!
Can i ask what you are still doing at the gym? i also have a dog so getting out and walking him has helped too. That's so good your still doing all that at 38+4! Haha i bet! Not long, the end is nearing!

@PooWillyBumBum Poor you, that doesn't sound good! but glad your feeling great now at 41 weeks!
Hope so!!

@flissity Yes it's my first. I bet with 2 other children it will be hard to get any downtime!
I honestly feel the exercise before and during has massively helped. Weight training was my thing and if my partner wasn't watching me like a hawk whilst training i think i could probably push myself a bit too far with the weights as i definitely know i can go heavier! but i have to tell myself i'm pregnant Grin

I stopped going to the gym at 37 weeks. Was just doing a couple of stretchy classes and Body Pump with no weights by that point. I definitely felt ready to stop by then!
The last 3 weeks before having baby were super boring. I suddenly felt really heavy, had quite bad SPD and was frustrated at not being able to do anything. So although you're very lucky to have had an easy ride so far, it won't last forever. Your body is preparing to do something amazing and challenging so of course it's going to change.

T0rt0ise · 21/02/2020 13:38

@ejmay90 routine is usually gentle cardio warm up on the bike or treadmill slow but on incline. Then weights including; bench (this isn't widely recommended due to risk of getting dizzy but I've never had a problem so have just kept going but lighter for reps, e.g. 40kg 5x5), calf raises (usually 10X5), some sort of gentle squat (i.e. TRX or light goblet), glute bridges (unweighted but with pause or single leg), then lots of arms/back (bicep curls, lat pull down, peck fly, etc). I work with a PT and we've just cut out the core and anything that compresses my stomach/risks it getting knocked (e.g. deadlifts, leg press) and dropped the weight but increased the sets.

PixieDustt · 21/02/2020 13:43

Yep all the way haha! I had heartburn but the old wives tale of baby will have lots of hair I believed and he had so much blonde hair! But other than that I had a lovely pregnancy. I nursed up until about 34 weeks. Could have gone longer but I was on my feet most of the day so I knew I had to stop then!

PixieDustt · 21/02/2020 13:43

By nursed I meant dental 🤣

OhTheRoses · 21/02/2020 13:50

My eldest is 25. My pgs were high risk due to late miscarriages but I never felt ill or slowed down by any of them except for patches of overwhelming tiredness. With DS I worked until 34 weeks which meant a 7.30 start and my commute was train and drain and lots of steps - probably at least 3 miles of fast walking every day. When I stopped work I then did all the shopping for the nursery and then organized Christmas, cleaned all the windows on 23rd December and varnished the wooden floors. Went into labour the following day.

With dd I had a 3.5 year old and wasn't working but still walked at least 3.5 miles a day and went to 41.5 weeks.

Easy labours with both although DS's wasn't ideal and I put that down to being well exercised partly. I was 34 and nearly 38.

Caspianberg · 21/02/2020 14:15

Also 30 weeks here and feeling pretty good still.
Had back ache a few weeks early on around 18-20 weeks, I think baby much have been at an awkward angle.
But for now not too bad, I assume it will get worse but not significant discomfort or pain.
Baby kicks getting far stronger now though, its more of a sharp jab with elbow

ejmay90 · 21/02/2020 14:37

@T0rt0ise That sounds very similar to me really. I haven't done bench in a while but i have been deadlifting. I squat but like you goblet or front squat with kb's.
Don't remember the last time i did core, i can't see it flinging back to my flat stomach i had before anytime soon though lol!

@caspianberg Glad to see i'm not the only one feeling good. Yea i've had the odd twinge but nothing that has lasted or been painful. I'm guessing it will get worse but glad right now i feel good! Long may it continue for us :)
