Sorry for the long post.
My husband and I have a DD who is 5. I had two miscarriages last year. One in January 2019 and one just before Christmas 2019. I went to the doctors in the new year and she decided to send me for the blood tests that you would usually be referred to if you had had 3 miscarriages.
I had the tests 2 weeks ago and today I have a phone consultation with another doctor who told me that my thyroid test indicated borderline over active thyroid (TSH less than 0.03). The T4 and T3 tests were within normal ranges and he wants to repeat in 6 weeks to see what the results are.
My mind is going into over drive- has anyone had any experience? Could my results be because I had had a miscarriage 6 weeks before the tests? He asked me if I had various symptoms, greasy skin, greasy hair, heart palpations, a swollen thyroid etc. The only thing I will say is I have been slightly more irritable and anxious than usual. I was in such a shock that I didn’t really ask any questions and now I’ve gone into panic mode wondering what’s going on. Any experiences please? Also I forgot to ask the key question of do I need to wait to try again or are we ok TTC.

Hey,

Lots of experience here regarding an overactive thyroid. I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease 5 years ago, to cut a long story short I had my thyroid removed Jan 2019, waited for normal levels and started trying week after period and feel pregnant straight away! This was September but my levels went out of whack after my surgery which is why it took a while to normalise. So I note that your TSH is very low, this ideally needs to be between 1 and 2 to conceive. Although mine was slightly higher. They'll then just monitor you once you're pregnant and change your meds accordingly. No need for panic and it won't take long for your TSH to rise back up. I wish you luck Smile x

If I were you I'd list your questions down for the next fortnight and then go and book a GP's appointment to get some answers.

I'm in the position of miscarriages and underactive thyroid and I'm off to see my GP next week with my list.

The positive here is you've had a successful pregnancy and birth so your body has proved it can do this. Good luck x

Thank you both!

Currently on no meds as the doctor just wants to repeat in 6 weeks and see what the levels are. Is this something that could just fix itself? I.e. my TSH could be so low because I have been pregnant 6 week previous and it could be on the rise on the next test? I would never have known about this if I haven’t had the reoccurrent miscarriages which scares me a lot!

Hodge- did you have any symptoms when your TSH was low?

avocado- good suggestion re the list, I think I will do that

Yes, same as you, anxiety, palpitations, etc. They're awful symptoms. My TSH is about where yours is now and doctors are happy with that with the stage I'm at. I go back in 2 weeks for a check up again. Your TSH could sort itself out, if when you next go and they're not then I would talk to them about it. Your other levels are within normal ranges which is great. Try not to worry too much xx

I should mention that I'm 24 weeks tomorrow. My TSH was been normal then it went up to 7, then dropped to 1.6 and is now 0.3. I suspect they'll lower my dose (I'm on Levothyroxine) to raise my TSH but T3 and T4 have been normal throughout.

I have Graves’ disease, diagnosed years after children born.

My cousin had hyperthyroidism through her pregnancy, it went after birth and 47 years later never returned

My aunt also had graves diseases, it’s thought it’s a family thing
