I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and I am seriously struggling with focusing and being at work. I have had early scans with EPU due to bad pains and everything looks perfect for where I am, have another scan next week to see the baby and heart beat, so I'm very relieved . However I have never felt so exhausted, I'm worried about driving like this.

Am I being a bit dramatic for 6 weeks or is it normal to feel this tired? I am also experiencing on and off nausea and think it's creeping in longer and worse each day. I have told my manager at work due to appointments and things, but I'm seriously struggling with work at the moment.

Anyone else experiencing this same? X

Yes. My symptoms started on the first day of week 4, I was struggling with sickness, pains and cramps in every cell of my body for about a week and was forced to stop working then. I just couldn't handle it anymore as I was totally inefficient. I'm slowly trying to get back to work only now, in week 13, but I'm still so weak I can only push myself to work for maybe an hour a day. I'm self-employed, so no work means no income for almost 8 weeks now. The financial side of it is devastating and contributes to feeling useless and depressed, it's a real struggle. The sickness got a bit better, but I started bleeding last week so I'm forced to rest again.

Pregnancy is different for everyone, some women will have nausea that will still allow them to work during the whole 1st trimester, and some will get extreme sickness or even hyperemesis. Midwives and doctors often don't take you very seriously if you're not vomiting like crazy, but the fact is sickness can be debilitating even without vomiting:

Share your concerns with your partner and your doctor and keep yourself hydrated and fed as much as possible. I know it's sometimes easier said than done. You're not the only one who's having it real hard xx
