Hi all, due to be induced on Friday when I’m 12 days over. Midwife attempted a sweep last Friday but cervix was high and baby’s head low so she couldn’t reach!
Showing absolutely zero signs of labour (showed more at 38 weeks than now)

What were your inductions like? How long? Painful or bearable??
I’d obviously love the positives but I need to prepare myself for all outcomes! X

I'm currently pregnant and wondering the same thing. Not a great story, but best friend had to be induced and ended up needing a c section, more to do with the baby's head being slightly out of place and not coming. But they're both happy and healthy now!

Have you considered an epidural? I was totally painless once I had mine, prior to that I was in a lot of pain but I was 8cm when I got it. I wanted it sooner but the brats dragged it out! If I had of had it sooner it would have been lovely though and I progressed super fast once I got the gel in! Have a happy healthy five week old now! Best of luck! Side note on the epidural, I had a walking one so had no trouble with pushing and yet no pain!!! I did have to have an assisted delivery but it was due to pre eclampsia kicking off that I had had through the pregnancy and they wanted baby out. Didn’t feel a thing with it though at the time! You will get on great! The process of induction wasn’t bad at all in terms of the pessary first then the gel. Once you know to have a pain relief plan IF you need it you will be grand!❤️

Congratulations! My daughters 1st birthday is this Friday. I've had 1 inductions, for different reasons, but neither ended in additional interventions e.g. Csection, which I know Inductions can often lead too. Both mine were born with just gas and air. Plan to be in for the long haul, my 2nd induction was quite boring for the 1st day, take magazines, iPad, and walk, walk, walk once they put the pessary in (if this is the plan for you) my 1st I was actually sent home with the pessary as a 'low risk' induction, and returned to the hospital when contractions started about 12 hours after. I would have had to have gone back after 24 hrs anyway. Happy to answer any other questions.

Eat as much as possible before you go in! My early induction totally failed and they wouldn't let me eat anything for 24 hours in case I needed a caesarean (which I did in the end)

@Ghost88 how did you go? 💕

Ghost88 · 02/03/2020 16:12

@auslass hey, pessary went in about 11am on Friday and contractions started about 2pm. They were really regular so 4 every 10 mins by 5pm.
I delivered (assisted delivery by ventouse) at 12.15pm on Saturday, baby girl is healthy and we’re finally home but as my uterus was over working for so long I ended up haemorrhaging amongst other things that went drastically wrong. I don’t think it was anything to do with being induced, just one of the unlucky ones I guess! X

@Ghost88 congratulations on your daughter! Sorry to hear it was a complicated birth but very happy you're home with her now. I hope it's true what they say and that you forget all about the complications and pain after!!
