On my other thread I've asked same thing, but i'm just wondering how you can tell yourself if cervix is closed or ripe or what ever else its called? Can anyone help?

I couldn't find mine when I was pregnant!! Sorry

ok, you need to wash your hands, and make sure your nails are not sharp or too long, and then you need to have a feel!

if you cannot reach past your bump, then try squatting down

a ripe cervix feels soft, like a softly pursed mouth, and unripe one is firm, like the tip of your nose

if you can get one fingertip into your cervix, it is 1 cm dilated

be gentle and don't rummage too hard

obviously it helps if you have been feeling your cervix previously, as yuo have something to compare to!

I'm new to it lol so know idea! I felt other day and felt soft and squidgy around what i can only describe as a small head? Lol. But baby was not engaged at check up last week. Been told thats fairly normal with 2nd until you go into labour

soft and squidgy sounds promising

it is normal for second babies to not engage until labour starts

also, bear in mind you are always 1 - 2 cm dilated after you ;ve had a baby

Oh didn't know that. So surrounding area being soft and then harder round area sounds ok?

not knowing your cervix that well, hard to say, but soft is better....definitely ripening

just need lots of sex now
