Hello everyone
Friend and I are both due summer (her about 6 weeks after me).
We were discussing names via WhatsApp and I said this particular name in my list and said I was leaning towards it. She said she liked the name. Fast forward a few weeks and we’re out for dinner with mutual friends as a group and she refers to her baby as this name.
I didn’t say anything at the time but it’s since come up in WhatsApp, she’s aware that I was going for the name as she was putting funny emojis with it. I said oi you know I had that name and she says she chose it first. I’ve scrolled back on my WhatsApp and I did mention it first.
Would I be wrong to just name my baby the name seeing as mines going to be born first?

I understand why you're upset and I would be too. If she's a friend you care about and want to keep, I would talk to her about it but I would still keep the name if that's really the name that i want.

Some people are so insensitive. Choosing a babies name is something we all talk about from being kids ourselves so I can see why you're pissed off. My friend did the same when I suggested a baby name I had always wanted since being little, she named her baby the same but trouble was she had a baby way before me so who am I to get angry over it lol. Don't get too worked up over it. This person might not be in your life forever so arguing over the same name is not worth it. Enjoy your pregnancy without unnecessary stress x.

Lesson learnt: don’t tell anyone the name before the baby is born!

If you’re due before her then it doesn’t really matter, she’s always going to look like the copycat and she’ll probably end up changing her mind.

Don’t attribute to malice what might have just been that she forgot where she heard the name.
I would be sending a screenshot to her though and assuming she genuinely doesn’t remember, just to clear the air.

Doesnt matter if u both use the same name. I had this with a family member we were due the sametime she went crazy saying thats my name, i had my baby first but i went with a different name & glad i dïd as i love the name h changed to more.

Agree with everyone, if you love the name use it but keep the screenshot incase you ever feel the need to justify it to a petty passer by :)

It would really annoy me as well if someone did this to me tbh so I understand. Thankfully the 2 people I know I’m real life giving birth at similar times are both having girls and mine is a boy.
