BP 100/60 - some say normal and some say low?

My BP was measured at 100/60 today. I’m 25 weeks pregnant.

It hasn’t changed since booking in so my normal midwife says it’s perfect for me. However, a student midwife has said today that she thought it was a bit too low.

Is it supposed to go up a bit in pregnancy?

I’m not a very big person and I’m pretty active. My baby is on the small side, too, so I’m having some regular scans to check on that side of things. He’s growing well, he’s just little.

Anyone here a font of all knowledge on pregnancy BP?

I feel fine and have lots of energy at the moment. God bless the second trimester.

Normally that would be a slightly lower bp but during pregnancy it can sit lower! Mines is sitting low too & im 12+4, my midwife said this is ok just to be careful when standing up too fast etc cause you’re more prone to dizziness. The student midwife will probably have only been taught the normal parameters which are 120/130 over 60/70, but everyone is different & has a different normal x

Everyone has a different ‘norm’ for blood pressure. If this was what your BP was on booking then I wouldn’t be worried as that would mean it’s your baseline :)

BP drops in the second trimester anyway, but this blood pressure seems fine.

It’s higher than mine! Mine is normal for me, and hasn’t really changed much throughout pregnancy (currently 35 weeks). So I wouldn’t worry.

I’m currently 35 weeks and BP yesterday was 97/58, it’s normally low anyway. Even in my last pregnancy the midwife said she was surprised I was still upright with my blood pressure being so low Grin no one has ever been concerned about it though.

Thanks everyone! I wasn’t too worried as it hadn’t really changed, but she was fairly insistent it was low. I get a bit of ‘white coat’ so my systolic might be a little lower anyway.

But I feel normal so I’ll keep on keeping on. 👍🏻

It's not considered worryingly low until you're under 90/60, see link below. Mine has got lower than that at a midwife appt and she was totally unbothered... even tho I think it makes me more dizzy and faint when it's low. We just have to drink more, eat smaller meals more often and have more salt.

Mine was always 80/50 but they were only worried if I was symptomatic. I wasn't apart from a wee blip in the middle of my second trimester.
