Morning Sickness back at 27 weeks

Argh, I had HG up until about week 17, got a beautiful break but now its back at 27 weeks and feels the same as before. Just when I thought I was done with it!

Anyone else had this? Were your docs or midwives worried about preeclampsia?

Have a MW and obstetrician appt next week, would you try and bring it forward? Or would you wait?

Hi @auslass I’m exactly the same as you. After about 20 weeks my HG calmed down ever so slightly that it was actually a well needed rest bite. However, from 27 weeks, HG game back with a passion.

I’m on Ondansetron and have been since week 12. Are you on medication for your sickness? If not, I’d definitely bring that up to your midwife. As my HG has continued throughout the majority of my pregnancy no one has mentioned preeclampsia, but If this is a worry of yours, could you text or ring your midwife in the meantime to see what she thinks?

I hope it gets better for you!

Thank you!

It's improving now a bit but I have to manage the heartburn now. Can't win. If I don't eat I get sick, if I do, I get sick.

Roll on due date. Roll on!

I was on medication (zofran) but it gave me horrid cramps that made me faint, I tried your one but it barely touched the sides.

Hope you're feeling better and all is well with your pregnancy! Xx

My HG didn’t really offer any let up until I was admitted to hospital and finally given the right medication at about 11 weeks. I took ondansatron and cyclizine 4 times a day and provided I didn’t miss any doses, I was able to function and actually feel like a human being. Sadly, probably around 27 weeks ish as well, the medication just didn’t work all that well anymore. It still keeps the majority of the actual sickness at bay but the nausea is back with a vengeance and the heartburn is so tedious that even with all the medication it does make me vomit every few days. As I’m already dosed to the max with my medication there’s nothing really to be done but wait it out. I’m now 38 weeks and as much as I am so looking forward to meeting my little girl, my overriding thought is how much I cannot wait to not be pregnant anymore and just kiss this wretched nausea and heartburn goodbye!
If you’re not already on any medication perhaps do speak to the midwife/GP? It has been genuinely unpleasant but without the medication it would have been even worse even in this later stage so definitely explore your options with them.
Wishing you all the best and good luck for the rest of your pregnancy!

Thanks @Woodlandwalks I have tried quite a few medications, the only one that worked was Ondansetron which also gave my tummy cramps so bad I fainted in public a few times. Had to stop them. All the others didn't touch the sides sadly.

It's seems a little better but as I said above, the heartburn is the worst thing. I can't eat dinner or I feel too sick to sleep.

Bring on the due date! I am clearly not built for pregnancy! To top it off now I take so much bloody iron I'm almost on the period table. And it's still going down. I'm going to pester the MW to send me for an infusion.

Sounds like you're on the home stretch! I'm just counting down the days to meet my baby, I don't want to curse us, but surely a newborn is easier than constant sickness, no sleep, poor appetite, low iron (and all the tummy troubles that go with it).

Best of luck and thanks for the reply!
