Burnt belly advice

I've just stupidly and accidentally burnt my belly with boiling water stirring a pan. Rang maternity triage and they said baby will be OK but I'm panicking. Anyone else had this? I'm 35 plus 2 weeks. I put a cold compress straight on it and now covered it in sudacrem can anyone recommend anything else?

I did exactly the same on Friday, although only a few centimetres near my belly button.

Will get it checked tomorrow by midwife as I see it's not healing and I disinfected and made sure clothes doesn't rub on it.

Aloe Vera gel is good, just from your pharmacy is a couple of pounds.

Thank you for the replies. @R2D2abc hope you recover soon. @bert2020 aloe Vera is a great idea I've got some upstairs. Thank you

I did this. Pulling out oven trays and forgetting how fat I was.
It's only your skin that is injured, no risk to baby because it's well protected in there.

Jesskir89 · 17/02/2020 18:21

@fairgame84 thank you. As long as baby is OK I'm not worried about me lol

Baby will be fine, nice and tucked away under a few layers. You on the other hand will be in pain for a few days...Keep something cold in the fridge and keep applying to the burn like aloe Vera gel. I burnt my stomach once when making my DS formula with boiling water, it hurt for a few days then went away.

MyView2 · 17/02/2020 18:36

I did this too, spilled coffee over myself on a train when pregnant with twins (I was on holiday abroad too and didn’t speak the language!) I got some cream and dressings at the pharmacy after pointing at my burnt bump and then made an appointment with the nurse at my GP surgery when I got home a few days later. All was well and the lovely nurse put my mind at rest.

Thanks ladies I'll survive but was irratically worried about baby but they are well protected as you say :) and @myview2 what a nightmare that must have been!

How big is the burn?

It wont affect the baby, but if its bad you should defo go and get some proper treatment for it.

Im an A+E nurse and see burns that have gotten infected all the time, (depends how bad the burn is though).

Equally, the burn will develop over a period of 48hrs or so. Please dont put sudocrem on it, just put some loose dressings over it and maybe some aloe vera if you have that.

Jesskir89 · 17/02/2020 20:12

@letsallscreamatthesistene thank you for the reply I've attached a photo any advice is appreciated :)

That's quite a large burn OP, keep an eye on that and maybe get it checked. My husband scalded his leg and they were able to put a special dressing on it to limit the scarring, his was the whole of his top leg though.

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 17/02/2020 20:26

Id say go and get this checked out

Jesskir89 · 17/02/2020 20:27

Thank you I will ring my doctors in the morning

Has your skin gone white or is that the sudocrem? Any blisters? Honestly I'd probably head to A&E or minor injuries with a burn of that size. Ouch, you poor thing. Baby will be fine though!

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 17/02/2020 20:34

Or if you get no luck with your GP, go to a Minor Injuries Unit or an A+E.

I see burns like that fairly often! Easy to treat but a pain if they get infected.

Jesskir89 · 17/02/2020 20:39

@peachgreen it was the sudacrem which I've now replaced with aloe Vera. If I get no luck with my doctors first thing I will go to A&E @letsallscreamatthesistene thanks again
