Another breathing question, getting very worried, ...didn't want to hijack Scampy's thread!

I apologise for a very similar thread to sscampy's but I didn't want to hijack her thread and this is slightly different!
I'm 33 weeks pg and this pg has been prone to me fainting (went to work yesterday and was in an ambulance heading to hospital within an hour). Recently I've also been suffering with feeling very out of breath, this isn't just when I walk but generally all the time. It's now started to stop me sleeping. I feel a tightness in my throat, almost as if something is stuck in there.
When I was at hospital yesterday they checked me out quite thoroughly but obviously they were concerned mostly with the faint, I did mention I was slightly out of breath though.
I don't want to cause a fuss but I'm beginning to worry about this. Do you think it could just be the baby lying in a funny way or something else? I'm definitely not anaemic as I've had that checked out before. Has anyone had this and could advise me? Thanks ladies.

are you asthmatic? pregnancy makes my asthma much worse and i can get breathless even when i am sat down

HonorMatopoeia · 04/09/2007 10:53

I've never been diagnosed as such, my Dad is asthmatic though, does it run in families?

it can do but if you were examined at hosp they would have spotted it.

Have you the number for your MW? She will be able to put your mind at ease

HonorMatopoeia · 04/09/2007 11:00

They listened to my back (IYSWIM!) and said all was ok, presume they were listening to my breathing. I have got midwifes number yes, may well give her a ring

its easier to hear your lungs thru your back, esp if there is a massive bump in the way(or humungous norks)

I think your MW will be more reassuring than anyone on MN can be.

HonorMatopoeia · 04/09/2007 11:05

Ah yes, the norks! They would definitely be in the way!
Thank you m.o.m. I'll give my midwife a buzz.

Just wondering what the MW said? and how you are feling now?

Alfie72 · 04/09/2007 18:34

Did you get your iron level checked yesterday ? My low levels have made me feel dizzy and faint. I know you don't think it was related but it could have just dropped as it often does late in your third trimester.

I think that maybe having some extra fluids may help as your blood pressure would benefit.

How was your blood sugar too ?

Do Call NHS direct/ go to your local NHS walk in centre if you feel unwell and can't get a good respoinse from your M/w.

lisad123 · 04/09/2007 19:29

I know they properly did it, but how fast is your pulse? Some ladies pulse's run quicker sometimes when LO is demanding more.
I used to get very dizzy in my first pregnancy, would nearly pass out often. Only once this time.

Sorry MOM, you won't believe the drama that occured here yesterday (Dh split a water pipe, cue water flooding everywhere and me escaping to my Mum and Dads as we had no electricity or water!). I didn't even get chance to ring the midwife but my breathing seems a lot easier today. I have a consultants appointment on Monday so will mention it to her then. Thank you for all your support yesterday
Alfie - Iron levels were checked and fine but I think the liquids thing has a lot to do with it. I'm terrible at 'remembering' to drink and I know I felt extremely thirsty when I came to. Blood sugar was also fine.
Lisad - pulse was ok after I calmed down after the episode, although the paramedic did say it shot up to 100bpm when he said we'd arrived at the hospital!

Blimey, Honor, you thread-hog away! What you are going through sounds way more dramatic than my puffiness at the top of the stairs.

I've had bouts of asthma in the past and this does sounds v asthma-like. Course I am no expert so please do hound your consultant for some thorough care.

Hope things pick up, pickle.
