24 weeks water trickle

Hello just wondering if this has happened to anyone else - I’m 24+3 and an hour ago I got up off the sofa and felt a watery trickle that went down my thighs a bit and has soaked through my pj bottoms. It was about 2 tablespoons I think. I put my finger on my vagina to have a look and it was completely clear mixed in with my normal white discharge so it has definitely come from my vagina. I also waited for my pjs to dry then smelt them and it doesn’t smell like urine. Is this a big issue or is it just one of those things? Is it worth going to triage for as I don’t drive and it’s 2 trains away from me.
Thank you

You need to call triage and go be seen. If it's your waters could be a big issue. Mostly just to be discharge but better safe than sorry

I’m just on hold to the walk in maternity unit but the midwife in charge of taking these phone calls is dealing with someone else currently

If you think it could be your waters you should go but if at all possible get someone to drive you rather than taking two trains. Otherwise call 111 for advice first.
Amniotic fluid has a characteristic smell like a mixture of hay and semen.

Is 2 trains away really your closest maternity unit?

swansloveiceskating · 15/02/2020 12:04

I'd call the closest maternity assessment unit and explain what has happened, they may well advise you to come in for assessment but it is always best to err on side of caution.

Imaybecontagious · 15/02/2020 12:18

@Sussexmidwife the hospital that I’m booked at is one train and one tube away, about 50 minutes. There is one closer but they won’t see me as I’m not booked with them

I just feel like they will be annoyed with me if I turn up there and it’s just discharge!

They won't be annoyed with you. I went in a few times when I was pregnant and they always said they'd much rather you go and get assessed if you're at all worried.

Roozy123 · 15/02/2020 12:28

They won't be annoyed with you at all.
It's always better to be checked. X

Mysocalledlifexx · 15/02/2020 12:28

No they wont be annoyed they will say its best u got checked, ive had 2 prem babies never sit and wait always go get checked over x

Robs20 · 15/02/2020 12:33

Yes go in. I am literally on the way home from the hosp having gone in for the same reason. They will test to see if it is your waters and if it is will need to make a plan (there is a risk of infection).

stellabelle · 15/02/2020 12:36

If it leaked down your leg it's definitely not just a discharge. Leaking waters is a serious issue so go to the maternity unit to be checked.

Sussexmidwife · 15/02/2020 13:24

You can, and should, go to any maternity unit (assuming you are entitled to NHS care). If there is any question that waters are leaking you should be seen & checked. Have you gone on feeling wet? Do you have a pad on?

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/02/2020 17:03

Have you been seen now OP? Hope all is okay. I normally see people advise people to put a pad on then if anymore leaking they can test it - but you posted a few hours ago so hopefully you've been seen now
