Feeling like a pest

I've been in 7 times with reduced movement. Everytime its turned out looking fine although I am being checked tomorrow for something being to high measurement wise last time I had a scan.

Today I again feel bubs hasn't moved as much. But I dont want to go in again as I'm starting to feel like a pest... I know it's stupid but I now just want baby out so I know he's ok. Feeling very anxious. I've been in twice in the last week!

You're not a pest, it's always better safe than sorry! I'm sure the midwives aren't bothered, it is their job to look after you ☺️

If it was me I would probably go in again because I would be too anxious...

by the way, what do the hospital actually do when somebody turns up with reduced movements? I’m 22 weeks so not at the stage where you are supposed to count yet but wondered how they decide everything is fine or not..

ShirleyPhallus · 13/02/2020 16:51

I went in once and they told me if I came in for a second time I’d have a scan to check all was ok with the placenta and if I came in behind 37 weeks I’d be automatically offered an induction

Have they not spoken to you about any of this? Do they just send you away again?

My hospital trust also look to induce at 37 weeks if you have 3/4 occurrences of reduced movement.. I’m surprised it’s not being considered.. have they mentioned anything about it at all? I’m 35 weeks & was given a scan of my second occurrence of reduced movements to check all seemed well.

@Catlover10 - you get hooked up to a monitor that checks babies heartbeat & babies movements (and if you are having contractions). From my recent experience, babies heartbeat is relatively jumpy, it goes up when baby moves and then drops to a steady rhythm inbetween. My baba has a resting HB of about 145 beats per minute & spikes to 170ish when she moves. Midwives are looking at period of time, usually about 15/20 minutes. They look for a significant drop below 100bpm or an abnormal rhythm to signal anything concerning.

Everytime baby moves, a little black line is marked on the recording. Sometimes, I can’t feel baby moving at all but the monitor can! Again, they are looking for a good number of movements over a time period. If they don’t record any or very few, they’ll keep monitoring.

If you need to go back OP, go. Don’t feel like a pest. It is their job. Maybe see you can have a chat about bring really concerned babies movements keep slowing?

I’m surprised they haven’t offered to induce you after so many times; my local hospital offers it after 3 times of going in once you’re full term. If you’re worried go in and don’t worry about feeling like a pest

One doctor mentioned induction on the 6th time but to the midwife not me. I just overheard. He told her he would not induce that night as I had a consultant booked for the follow week. Which is now tomorrow. Otherwise I just get sent home again each time.
I'm going to ask tomorrow though as I personally feel overall movements have reduced or changed over the past week even though I've been sent home.

Thankfully he's moving happily now but I do want to make sure baby is safe.

Your not a pest at all! I've been in 3 times over 3 weeks and now being seen twice a week to keep an eye on baby till hes born. I'm 33 weeks.
Dont feel bad. The most important thing is the health of you and your baby.
