My sons school has a few confirmed cases of scarlet fever. I'm 12 weeks pregnant. Should I be worried?

According to the nhs website:

There's no evidence that catching scarlet fever during pregnancy will put your baby at risk. However, if you are infected at the time you give birth, there is a risk your baby may also become infected.
Pregnant women who have been diagnosed with scarlet fever are treated with antibiotics, which are safe to take in pregnancy and labour.

But it's always best to double check that with your midwife and discuss any concerns.

GP here. I've been in contact with multiple patients with scarlet fever. There's no known risk in pregnancy to baby (unlike slapped cheek, chickenpox, etc)
Obviously if you do become unwell, I would have a lower threshold for being assessed though, as your ability to fight infections is more challenged in pregnancy.
