Leaking urine when bending down postpartum

I've name changed Blush but I've been on here years I'm not a wee troll if there are those as well as poo trolls.

Anyway I had a baby 5 weeks ago and now when I bend over say to pick up something from the floor I can feel I leak a bit of urine. I can't stop it and it doesn't seem to happen at any other time. I carry carry baby ok or lift from the cot but the full bend over is the one that does it. I also have a toddler so I need to tidy up after.

I'm trying to do my pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day, but I have my 6 week check next week, so is this worth mentioning to GP ? ( my GP is male and my practice are arses, so I can't see anyone else. He is the most unsympathetic person I have ever met and very blatant )

Is there any physio for this type of thing ? Or something I can do to help more? Thanks

Absolutely mention it to your GP. They might send you to a physio. Please do not put up with this without telling the doctor. I had it after my 3rd and had a TVT tape put in. Best thing ever. A lot of my friends pee themselves when sneezing or running. Me, I'm all good.

I would recommend trying to do your pelvic floor exercises a few more times per day. Im a midwife and generally say do 10 fast and 10 slow everytime you feed your baby (I totally understand that this is all easier said than done with a newborn and a toddler). I would definitely mention it to your GP but given your review of him, i would be prepared to be proactive following the appointment if he is unsympathetic and unhelpful. There are womens health physios who help with this issue and can do a proper assessment of your pelvic floor (a vaginal examination so not pleasant but they can tell so much information and give you personalised exercises). I dont think they are widely referred to on the NHS so it may be something you would look for privately but you may only need 2 sessions or so....the cost of this could be weighed up against the cost of years of tena lady 😬

Im sure I remember the doctor telling me last time that this was common for a couple of months but if it continued, to go back. We have a private physiotherapist around us who does group post partum exercise classes for this type of thing. It's still expensive but cheaper than seeing her privately. I was going to start them after dc3 but then found out I was expecting dc4. I'm definitely going to do them as soon as I can this time.

Use the squeezy app on your phone, follow the instructions & do your pelvic floor exercises. 5 weeks is easy to get things back on track, you are probably still a bit bruised & swollen as well.

Very very common! I leaked if I walked too quickly and running was out of the question! It probably took about 6 months, but slowly everything returned to normal (despite me being rubbish at pelvic floor exercises!). Mention it to GP but certainly don't worry about it.
