Pre-baby holiday/short break ideas?

Hi all - I'm due in the summer with my first and DH and I would like to take a few days (prob around 5) to get some couple time and relaxation in before baby makes an appearance. Ideally I'd love to go somewhere with a bit of sun but planning to go around April time means there aren't a huge number of short haul places that have sunbathing weather that time of year. Considered Marrakech, Seville or one of the Greek islands but we're open to suggestions of nice spa hotels in the UK instead as I'm a bit concerned that if we book a holiday abroad and then something changes from my current low risk pregnancy we would lose the money.
Has anyone got any good babymoon suggestions from personal experience?

Hey BB, we're in a similar position as you. Due 9th June but the earliest I can take time off is from the 28th March (will be around 29 weeks by then). Was looking to go somewhere short haul and hopefully sunny. However mentioned this to friends of ours and they were really against me flying. Thankfully I've had no complications up until now and long may this continue but it's really got me thinking. I checked travel insurance and it said you don't need to declare pregnancies but I'm worried I'd spend the whole holiday on edge. My partner has a busy job and would love for him to have a relaxing week off but now I'm in two minds. Oooh decisions...

We’re in the same position, due 13th August and have decided to go for an adults-only all inclusive in Portugal in April when I’ll be 23 weeks. I wanted somewhere relatively close and although I usually prefer exploring holidays, I figured it would be best to go for a more relaxing option this time with no kids around me. Who knows if I’ll ever get that againWink

We went to Seville in December and it was lovely, would recommend. It’s quite a small city so easy to get around by walking or bus.

Also about money! We booked flights ain’t easyJet so not very expensive if we do have to lose it. And the hotel via booking.com can be cancelled and refunded up to a certain date. We thought that was sensible in case anything happens but as I’m low risk we’re taking the chance.

We have booked 4 nights in Lisbon - I will be around 25 weeks.

I have let my travel insurance company know, told my midwife who said it was fine and have also booked seats on the plans with extra legroom. We will take it relatively easy once we are there and do the bus tour etc rather than walking everywhere like we would usually.

Thanks all for the info - the problem is that if I go before 28 weeks then it will be Easter and the flights are OUTRAGEOUS whereas if I wait until after Easter then I'll be nearer 29-30 weeks and not sure that's a little too late? We are spending a week in Cyprus in September when baby will be about 10 weeks for a close friends wedding so we're kind of thinking perhaps we might go to a posh spa in the UK for a couple of days instead. Re travel insurance my understanding is that different companies cover different dates so check what your policy states - some of them only cover medical expenses for premature birth if it occurs before 28 weeks because apparently birth after that point is considered normal (?!! f*ck knows which medical advisor signed off on that policy) whereas others cover up to 32 weeks premature delivery so definitely worth checking that. Also I heard it's prudent to get a fit to fly from your midwife or doctor even if you aren't at 28 weeks yet because some airlines stop and question you anyway so it just smooths the process.
I really feel like just flopping on a deckchair with some sun and hopefully a pool to relax by for a few nights!
