Early scan

I went got an early scan today - 6 weeks.
Going by the first day of my last period (23/12) I would be 7 weeks tomorrow.
However, going by the date we could have possibly conceived I would be 5 weeks and 3 days today.
At the scan, we see the gestation sack but no yolk sac. The sonographer said this was normal for a 5 week pregnancy but to call my GP tomorrow to get referred to the EPU for blood tests and to rescan on the 24th Feb.
Has anyone else had this please?
This is my first pregnancy and whilst I am trying to stay calm and have an amazing boyfriend who is doing his best to be positive, I really am worried.
Any help/ experiences greatly appreciated.

I haven’t had my dating scan yet. I only had my early scan on Friday. I’m not too worried because dates are done from LMP but obviously that’s not when I conceived. I was only 4 days out.

@LadyBird2020 no judgment from me though - I had a scan at 5+4 (all my antenatal care was paid for privately, before anyone freaks out..) as I needed to believe I was actually pregnant. Same as you, wanted to be for a long time and needed the confirmation because 2 bfps wasn't enough. It didn't settle me at all though. Even after the T21 blood test came back negative and the 20 week anomly scan was all good, I still didn't stop worrying until ds was born. And now I look back and I regret so much not enjoying my pregnancy more - on paper, and with the benefit of hindsight, it was perfect. Easier said than done, but try not to worry too much Flowers

@Shmithecat2 so glad you got a happy ending. I woke up today trying to be more positive and listening to my body. I have no reason to believe anything bad has happened and hoping we were just too early to see anything.
I had my first round of blood tests yesterday and got the second lot tomorrow, so hopefully more hormones would have doubled to show a good pregnancy.
I will take your message on board and from Wednesday (hoping it's good news) I want to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy. X

@Jojo19834 The NHS run the tests and I have miscarried so in for the op today. So when people do go for private scans and are told to go to their GP, it's probably for a reason and not wasting their time as you suggested.

So sorry to hear that @LadyBird2020. I have had early scans that have twice shown a baby with no heartbeat (8 1/2 weeks and 7 1/2 weeks size). It's heartbreaking and stressful to have to have the treatment. I hope it goes as well as it can for you.

I think if you're fairly sure of your dates there's nothing wrong with getting an early scan at 7 weeks or more. I found it better mentally to find out sooner rather than later that something had gone wrong - and I knew something wasn't right both of those times as symtpoms suddenly stopped the first time and the second time I had some bleeding.

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for updating, though I'm sorry it wasn't a happy ending.

LadyBird2020 · 18/02/2020 19:34

@BecauseReasons @Lazydaisydaydream @Starlight39 thank you all for your messages/ well wishes. I am just glad we found out as soon as we did. It's been an awful time but hopefully next time, it will be smooth sailing.
Sorry to hear you have been through the same thing. Little angel babies are together xx
