I’m 19 weeks and haven’t felt any movements, my stomach is quite big for how far I am everyone thinks I’m further. Is this normal to not feel anything at this stage?

I didn't feel movements until 23 weeks. I had an anterior placenta Smile

nachthexe · 08/02/2020 20:12

Yes depending on position of placenta and shape of uterus. But any time now there’ll be a little flutter. Couple of weeks more and you will reliably be able to identify.

Kiew123 · 08/02/2020 20:24

Thank you, I’ve jus been panicking because a few people have said you should be feeling flutters and kicks by now

Also is this your first pregnancy? That usually makes a difference in when you feelings too. X

Christmastree43 · 08/02/2020 20:48

I'm 19 weeks and also haven't reallt felt anything, the odd thing that I think could either be digestion/ wind but maybe feels a little different...

Really looking forward to but also nervous about 20 week scan next week for reassurance Smile

It's my first pregnancy and all research has suggested not to worry at all if you don't feel anything before 23/24 weeks.

LH1987 · 08/02/2020 22:05

Hi, I am 21 + 3 now. I have only felt movements in the last two days. I don't even have an anterior placenta. When I had my 20 week scan, I could see the baby moving loads and kicking me on my front and still felt nothing! So basically I wouldn't worry.

Seekingadviceagain2020 · 08/02/2020 22:15

Hi,congratulations!
Is it your first?
With my first, I had an anterior placenta. I didn’t feel ANYTHING until 29 weeks! Wonderfully spirited, healthy toddler now.

It’s hard not to worry, I know. But 19 weeks is still well within normal range.. it will come soon!

MamaMama20 · 08/02/2020 23:58

Everyone kept saying the same to me about 19 - 20 weeks- ' you should have felt movement by now' also everything I read said the same. I panicked that much I ended up paying for private scan. Turns out I had anterior placenta and didnt notice much until a few weeks later, but even so 19 weeks is still early to feel anything especially if it's your first

Chrispy88 · 09/02/2020 04:28

I didn’t feel anything I was certain was a kick until about 20-21 weeks! Anything I did feel before then I was convinced was gas or normal digestion. Try not to worry, I got a bit stressed about it as well, now he won’t stop haha

SnoozyLou · 09/02/2020 06:45

I'm 21 weeks now. I started feeling flutters at 17 weeks. Now she feels like a box of frogs.

In my first pregnancy though I didn't feel a thing until 25 weeks. Easier said than done, but try not to worry about it. It is normal.

Kiew123 · 09/02/2020 09:10

Thank you everyone, yes this is my first, Since I found out I was pregnant all I have done is worry because I haven’t had any symptoms all through my pregnancy. My last scan was at 15 weeks and everything was fine but now I’m jus worrying as I don’t even feel pregnant apart from having a bump. I have my 20 week scan next week!

I had barely any symptoms with my first, and a healthy DS. I had some in my 2nd and 3rd, but both ended in MC. Actually, I continued to have symptoms in my 2nd up to 12 week scan, but that showed baby stopped developing at 8 weeks.

This is my 4th pregnancy and I've been as sick as a parrot! I'm having a girl though and they say this can affect it. I just think every pregnancy is different even for the same person.

It was a lot easier for me once I started feeling movements, because you're not solely relying on scans anymore to tell you everything is ok. Of course that does mean I freak out when she has a quiet days, but they're getting fewer and further apart.

Catlover10 · 09/02/2020 14:29

I have a posterior placenta (so the way that you should easily be able to feel kicks). I’m 21+3 now and only felt my first proper kicks that I couldn’t put down to wind or anything this week when I was 21 weeks exactly. You’re fine don’t worry!!!

SnoozyLou · 09/02/2020 14:29

My symptoms subsided around 15 weeks btw, apart from easily getting nauseous. I think I was only sick once throughout the whole of my first pregnancy. It doesn't mean anything though.

MarshmallowsOnToast · 09/02/2020 14:44

I didn't feel a thing until 22 weeks. Don't worry x

Blahblahblahnanana · 09/02/2020 14:48

You should start to feel your baby move between around 16 and 24 weeks of pregnancy. If this is your first baby, you might not feel movements until after 20 weeks.

Mamabear88 · 09/02/2020 14:57

I had an anterior placenta and definitely didn't feel anything until after that (I think about 24 weeks) so try not to worry. They shoud be able to tell you the position of your placenta at your 20 week scan if you ask xx

memberofseven · 09/02/2020 15:12

When it starts moving you will probably look back at this period and think actually I could feel it moving. It's just you dint know what you are looking for now if you see what I mean. I've been able to feel since 12 weeks - but this is my 5th pregnancy so I know what I'm looking for. I'm 18 weeks now and, for me, it's still not a definite kick, more a feeling of fullness and rolling, almost like wind, but not.

Kiew123 · 09/02/2020 18:39

Thank you all so much for replying, hopefully soon I will start to feel something
