Recovering from an ectopic

I've recently had surgery to have my left tube removed due to an ectopic pregnancy at 6 weeks.
I'm not really sure why I am posting, maybe for some success stories of pregnancy after ectopic. I'm feeling incredibly down and sad about not just the loss of my much wanted baby, but also my tube. What can I do to try make myself feel better, it's such a sad time
Thank you x

Hi, I don't have anything helpful to add but wanted to let you know I feel you & you're not alone.

I'm currently in "expected management" stage- back tomorrow for bloods and to make a decision where to go from here. Already had 4 early miscarriages and now this.

I hope you feel better very soon.

I had an ectopic and had to have my left tube removed. Currently just got to the 12 week mark and have my scan next week! I've definitely been very anxious so far that every pain and twinge was something wrong but we were referred for an early scan at 6 weeks and all looked good

It's hard to get in your head that you can have a positive experience after an ectopic, but so far it seems to be going ok so don't lose hope xxx

Sending you big hugs hun. Hope you recover well. I know it's hard but try to stay positive.
Could i ask what were your symptoms before the dr detected the ectopic? X

BMWL · 08/02/2020 11:56

Thank you everyone for your replies. They have been somewhat comforting.
@DJBebe I was having a lot of left sided cramps and pain, and bleeding. I just felt something was not right and I'm lucky I went and got it checked before there was a worse outcome x

I am 6w2d and i have some mild tummy cramping and light brown spotting and I've been worried about an ectopic as well. Unfortunately i only have one tube and the thought of losing it terrifies me. 😔
I am having an appointment to check it out next week and hopefully will be ok. Hope all goes well for you too. X

Sorry you’ve had an ectopic pregnancy and hope your recovering well. I had an ectopic 20 months ago and lost my left tube as it ruptured at 8 weeks pregnant. As I type I’m watching my 4 day old baby girl sleep so it is certainly possible to get pregnant again with one tube. It actually took me less time to fall pregnant this time than it did with my first child and two tubes!
It’s early days but hopefully you’ll start to feel better soon.

My Husbands Grandma had an ectopic and went on to have 5 successful pregnancies and births after and that was back in the 60’s . Hope that helps x
I hope you feel better soon x

Look after yourself, BMWL, your mind is grieving, your body is a mess of hormones, and recovering from major surgery. Flowers

Both my kids were conceived after my ectopic and tube removal. The chat boards and info at The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust were my life line.

BMWL · 13/02/2020 17:13

Thank you everyone for your messages. They are very reassuring.
@KittenVsBox I've had a look at that forum and it is very helpful - thank you for sharing it

Sorry to hear you are going through this Flowers

I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my left tube. I’ve gone on to have two children, both conceived on second month of trying!

Take care of yourself xx

My neighbour went on to have two healthy babies a few years apart after an ectopic pregnancy and tube removal when she thought she’d never have any more children. Don’t lose hope.

Witchonastick · 13/02/2020 21:14

My first pregnancy was ectopic and I lost the tube. I was pregnant with dc1 about 4mnths later.
Third pregnancy was ectopic, kept the tube, but told chances of another pregnancy about 10% chances of it being another ectopic about 70% Sad

But against those odds I was pregnant with dc2 not long after.

There’s every reason to expect you’ll have a successful pregnancy next Flowers

Hi Op I had my left tube removed at 6 weeks too and tortured myself with worries about conceiving with only one tube. It was my first question when the surgeon came to speak to me. She assured me it would be fine. I was still worried and I paid to see a fertility specialist who told me just to recover and then try again and I would still conceive with one tube. When they removed your tube apparently they can see whether it is healthy or not by its outside appearance. I even requested my hospital notes and it said right tube normal. The specialist said is not as simple as a 50% reduction in your chances- the eggs from your left ovary can migrate to your right tube for example. I took a good few months 'off' (so to speak) from ttc and then I got pregnant in the February after the op the previous July. And then I had an early scan to check she was in the right place and the rest of my pregnancy was straightforward. Baby now 16 months. Take your time to recover mentally and physically. Everything will be fine xxx

I had a tube removal and was unexpectedly pregnant four months later after one time not using protection!!! I was shocked and terrified it was another ectopic but all was fine and then pregnant again 2 years after that!!! Try not to worry, you'll be fine x
