Hi Everyone,

I'm now nearly 8 weeks and for the last 2 and a half I've been really struggling with nausea and sickness. I've not been physically sick many times but the nausea is enough for me to have my head in the toilet throughout most of the day.

Yesterday I had the worst day, I couldn't hold anything down, not even sips of water. I vomited around 5/6 times over the whole day and the last time was around 7.30pm. I had heart palpitations from then until around 9 which were really strong and making it uncomfortable to rest. I called 111 and they advised I go to A&E.

I went and they were brilliant, gave me fluids, did blood and urine tests (which came back to say I was severely dehydrated) and they gave me some anti-sickness medication which gave almost instant relief. They have now given me some tablets to take and said to have them 'as and when'. They are called Metoclopramide, has anyone had them? Can anyone give me some advice on going forward from this? As i'm sure you can imagine it wasn't a very nice experience and am feeling pretty sorry for myself today!

Thanks in advance Blush x

I'm so sorry you are suffering. Sounds like you may have hyperemesis. We have a hyperemesis support page which you may find helpful.
I was prescribed metoclopromide and it worked really well along with ondansatron in combination. If you get ondansatron as well make sure you get a laxative as it can make you really constipated but metoclopromide hasnt had any real side effects for me.
If you find that you still cant keep water down on the metoclopromide and ondansatron you may need steroids as well. I did until they could get everything under control.
Hope you start to feel better soon.
