Can anyone tell me what their experiences was with chorionic hematoma in first trimester? What was the spotting colour and amount? And how long did it last?

I had one , but didn’t even know until they saw it on my early scan (I have epilepsy so went for a reassurance scan at 7+6) , that’s when they said they could see I had one but I had no bleeding at all. I was quite anxious after , worried about what it could mean but I never googled it as I knew it would scare me. I went for my 10 week +2 scan (again because I’d had some seizures), baby was perfectly fine and the subchorionic hematoma had sorted itself out and was no longer there. So it lasted all of 3 weeks, and no harm to baby. The lady at the scan said some women have lots of bleeding with it and others have none, both are normal . Good luck xx

Mine caused a significant amount of bleeding, so I didn’t know that was the cause until I had the scan. They explained it to me that it was like a bruise where the egg had implanted. Never caused me or LO any bother.

Sorry, in answer to your question it went from light spotting to heavier bleeding and was on and off for a month I’d say but some days I wouldn’t have any bleeding

Some brown, some pink spotting from 6 weeks until well into the second trimester, with a few episodes of heavier bleeding. SCH gone by 20 weeks and DS was born safe and well at 39 weeks.

I had a similar experience to @papercraftninja.

I had a bleed early on and when they did a scan they discovered that's what it was, I'd never heard of it before then.

I bled on and off through most of the pregnancy actually, some days heavy other days light spotting and the bleeding got less and less as the pregnancy progressed.

I had one at around 8-9 weeks and it frightened the living daylights out of me.

I had had a bit of bleeding (not a huge amount) about 4 days before and was scanned and all was okay, so I am not sure whether that was the start or something else as they did not see anything on the scan.

On the day of the haematoma I had this sudden crampy feeling and urge to go to the toilet about 6pm. Blood started to just gush out. The person who did the scan described it as a tap suddenly being turned on and that was exactly what it was like. Lots of blood and massive clots. The worst went on for about an hour and I was convinced I had miscarried. It then eased into just red bleeding that evening but lighter and was just spotting by the next day. The spotting carried on on and off for a week or so but ended up becoming browner.

At the scan, they could see and mine was caused by one of the blood vessels in the developing placenta 'popping' and detaching causing the flood of blood. The clotting was from the body trying to stem the flow of blood. They could still see some blood pools on the scan so said that it could still have spotting for a while until that all cleared out, which I did have.

Currently 35+5 and baby is all good, so it was just one of those incredibly scary things.

Large amount of bright red blood. Lasted a few hours. And stopped before I was scanned a day or 2 later. I thought it was beginning of miscarriage. Until scan showed everything was okay.
