I wonder especially after having the glucose drink, what exactly are you allowed to do?

Just sit in the waiting area for 2 hours and waiting to be called for a second draw?

Is it fine to read? And stretch your legs a bit indoors?

Any tips and tricks are welcomed!
Thanks!

Of course you can read.. I took a couple magazines with me and tbh the time went pretty quickly. The chairs are so uncomfortable though. Check with the nurse when she does your first lot of bloods if you can have a wonder about I didn't ask when I went and everyone else who was there just sat in the waiting room no one got up to wonder about so not sure if you can or not. (can't see that effecting the results though)

Definitely take something to read and maybe download something to watch on your phone. I was told not to walk around as that can effect how quickly your body processes the sugar so I just had to sit. It’s absolutely fine, a little boring and the drink isn’t as bad as people say. Good luck OP!

In my hospital you're not allowed do wonder around hospital it should rest. The chairs were soft and pretty nice for being hospital ones.

Take something to read, your headphones in case you want to watch something, maybe a crosswords or sudoku. Take some snack to have afterwards too. You're allowed to stand a bit if you want so, there usually is a toilet there that you can use.

Take books, phone, etc. Headphones as 2 hours of listening to whining toddlers and coughing people will drive you mad. Take a snack to have after as you might be starving by then.

I wanted to walk the 8 minutes home during mine but the nurse wouldn't let me. I was told sit down and do nothing except read/sudoku type stuff.

I was told to go home and come back when the two hours was up!

God it's so dull. I had to do it three times (and never bloody had GD). Take a good book!

I was booted out of the department due to lack of seating. The only place I could find to sit was the hospital Costa. With the smell of paninis wafting up my nose, it was kind of a long two hours.

Hi guys. I am having my test in a few weeks and a bit nervous about the sickness and nausea that can come? I am 22 weeks and still feel a bit sick in the morning if I eat a sweetish breakfast (even raisins in museli). Did it make you feel sick? Any advice is much appreciated thank you

Watto1 · 05/02/2020 20:23

No, I didn’t feel sick. Just bored! Definitely take a book/crossword/sudoku.

Bol87 · 05/02/2020 21:46

I’ve had one in both pregnancies. My first, I was totally fine. Just boring. I downloaded a two hour film on my iPad & found a quiet corner of the hospital to watch it on!

My second one this time, I felt awful. But I’ve suffered much more with HG this pregnancy. I despise anything sweet this pregnancy, so the drink nearly made me throw up alone! And I eat quite frequently through the day to limit nausea, so fasting from 10pm - 11.30am was unpleasant! I felt faint & horrible! But equally, two hours of feeling pants & it was over. I went & scoffed two costa sandwiches 😄 I soon felt much better!

Def take a book or film or something! I wasn’t allowed to leave the hospital but I was allowed to go off & find somewhere else to sit if I wanted, which I did.

I found it wasn't as bad as I expected. Just tastes like weak squash. I read a book as I was told not to wander around as it can skew the results of the test by burning energy
