Fibroids in pregnancy

I went for a early scan yesterday at 7+1 and everything looked fine apart from the sonogropher mentioned I have a fibroid.

Has anyone had them and did it affect anything?

I have several fairly substantial fibroids, so I'm having some extra scans along the way to keep an eye on them.

Whether they have any impact at all depends a lot on their size and location. They can do things like make bleeding more likely during/after delivery, or cause some discomfort during pregnancy. In some locations they can cause delivery to be a bit more complicated (for example, if they're located down near your cervix). They are very common, though, and many women have no idea they even have them until they have a pregnancy scan. Talk it over with your midwife and they can tell you a bit more.

Thank you for your reply. This is my 3rd pregnancy but 1st with having fibroids. I'll ask again at my next scan

Had one in my third pregnancy too, found I had it at an early scan at 7 weeks. For me it caused pain. At 12 weeks scan was there and growing, but on the upper part of my uterus. At my next scan there wasn't anymore.

I'm now pregnant with my 4th and this time I have none.

They are not issues unless they cause pain, some do, some don't. Mine never bothered me, hope it won't in my second pregnancy!

I have 3 fibroids, I thankfully haven't had any issues with them during my pregnancies.
