If you had PGP in pregnancy, when did it go after birth?

Instantly!

I was amazed after having DDs that I could walk again.

For me it was a while - 8 weeks until it eased to the point it wasn’t so noticeable maybe? Although not as bad as my third trimester. I had a c section and twins so double the relaxin during pregnancy.

Your body continues to produce relaxin while breastfeeding. This was a problem for me as I screwed my back up while pumping as everything was more stretchy. Once I stopped pumping at 7 months, my back was wrecked but my hips did get better.

I still get it now on the first and last days of my cycle but nothing like pregnancy.

It was instantly better post delivery.
After first pregnancy I had no problems until 2nd pregnancy. However 3 years on from baby number 2 and I still get problems at times. No where near as bad as it was during pregnancy though.

Instantly! Could walk unaided (was on crutches and should have been in wheelchair) to loo within hour of birth

AppropriateAdult · 02/02/2020 17:20

It went very quickly, can’t remember it being a problem at all in the newborn period. It did come back, however, 18 months later around the time my periods came back.

Instantly! In labour I genuinely felt like my pelvis was going to snap, but as soon as I gave birth pain was completely gone

Olipops22 · 03/02/2020 10:39

The pain went instantly as soon as I had DS.

He is now 7months old and I have recently started to experience some of the pain again. Tends to be after being on my feet all day- hoping this resolves soon!!

5 years so far, sorry.

Within 24 hours! It was like a miracle

8 months and counting😭 has anyone found any ways to improve it afte this long? I have been considering seeing a physio. It is considerably better than when I was pregnant though.

supercalifragilistic123 · 03/02/2020 18:50

Mine was so bad I couldn't even walk on crutches. The bulk of the pain went instantly but I did have to work hard to regain my strength as I had a huge amount of muscle weakness. It probably took a year to get back to normal.

I did lots of hill walking with the buggy and it did take a lot of determination and tears but I got there eventually. I still have to sleep with a pillow between my legs though.

I heard breastfeeding can make it last longer. For number 1, I noticed an improvement but got twinges after I've walked a fair bit. For baby 2, I had it I think even 9 months afterward but never nearly as bad as during pregnancy.

I would recommend seeing a chiropractor, but nhs only provide physio. After childbirth your pelvis is a bit out of shape. A few pulls and cracks and you'll feel amazing...!

I went 3 or 4 times after birth and then started swimming at 5 months, Dd 6.5 months now and I'm just about pain free. The swimming is like instant pain relief if I've been pushing the pram and walking a lot.

TropicPlunder · 04/02/2020 08:41

6 months. At that point I had physio and it went away within weeks of doing the prescribed exercises. I should have gone sooner. If it doesn't resolve a week or so after birth, get physio!!
