Worried my bump is too big for 16.4 wks - WARNING PHOTO

NC. Sorry about the embarrassing photo but I am worried as I suddenly seem to have ballooned in the last 10 days.
For context I am normal tall size 12 with a flatish tummy. 10 days ago I was still in my size 12 jeans and looking normal albeit slightly bloated round the tummy. Now this which I feel is HUGE for 16.4 weeks??? I feel like I look 8 months pregnant. Is growth at this rate normal? It literally feels like it's happened overnight.

You most certainly don’t look huge.. or 8 months gone.

I’m 8 months gone my belly buttons just a flat weird thing now, my feet are a distant memory along with my fanny Grin and I can’t for love nor money get socks on without a painful awkward shuffle on the bed. I fear if I try it standing I’ll end up like an upturned turtle lol.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 15:26

You really really don’t look 8 months pregnant. You look like you have the start of a bump - mine arrived out of nowhere about the same time.

You should have seen me at 8 months pregnant (in fairness I had two lots of everything in there) - I was the size of a Winnebago.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 15:28

There you go - not quite 8 months pregnant 😬

Looks like my stomache and I’m not even pregnant Wink only joking. It looks normal to me, congratulations xxx

Nogodsnomasters · 01/02/2020 15:32

I was about that size at 16 weeks tbh and I was a size 10, 5ft 3in pre pregnancy. It's definitely not the size of an 8 month bump, you're in for a big shock when you're 8 months lol (mean that in a friendly way!)

EnglishRain · 01/02/2020 15:38

Wish I had more of a bump! I'm a tall size 10/12 and 16 weeks tomorrow. I have a slight 'podge' but no bump 😔

Indella · 01/02/2020 15:47

It’s fluid retention and looks as you would expect at this gestation. Baby is still tiny at this point and your uterus is only just rising above your pelvis.

HelloViroids · 01/02/2020 16:08

If you go on baby center website there are lots of pics of different people’s bumps they have uploaded at each stage, which may be reassuring.

SinkGirl · 01/02/2020 16:25

Also, my stomach looks like that during every period - bloating and fluid retention causes it. I’ve had people think I’m pregnant before. I used to think I looked pregnant til I got an actual bump.

I was really bloated in early pregnancy which looked like your photo (different shape to a baby bump, basically the whole area a bit distended) then it went down about 15 weeks so there was nothing, then about 17 weeks I got an actual bump. Like I say though, I had two in there so I grew at an alarming rate once I started.

I'm a size 16. Took this Tonight at 17+4. I'm feeling pretty big at the minute. (Excuse the work uniform 🙄) x

Op I think your bump looks perfect for 16-17 weeks. No too big at all, you could still still easily it with a scarf or something.

It always feels bigger than it looks in my experience.

Jesskir89 · 02/02/2020 00:10

This is what 8 months looks like! I was bigger that you at 16 weeks

isthepopea · 02/02/2020 00:13

Ach you're all lovely!

Em39ma · 02/02/2020 06:48

My bump at 16 weeks measured at 30 weeks. Your bump is fine.
Everyone is different. By the time I had my DD at 37 weeks I was measuring 55 I was huge.

EssElsiee · 02/02/2020 10:04

14 + 5 Grin

Nicecupofcoco · 02/02/2020 10:10

Op you look fab! Your bumps just popped out! It's because your not yet used to it, it's such a big change to a flatter stomach, it'll take abit of getting used too. You look lovely.

MrsBumpBump · 02/02/2020 11:01

Ok thanks everyone. It's reassuring to know! I think the main worry factor was because it was all so sudden and I had assumed it would just grow gradually. I have indeed popped!

Also when I googled 16 week bumps I just got a load of skinny celebrities which didn't help!
