When did you have your dating scan?

Just got my appointment through and I'll be 13+6 at my '12 week' dating scan.

I know they say it can be anytime between 11 and 14 weeks but that just seems to be cutting it really fine....it's a good 2 weeks later than any of my family and friends when they had theirs at the same hospital. Anyone else had theirs that late?

And what if my dates are wrong? It's not uncommon to see baby's measured slightly ahead or behind than expected.

I'm 37 and stressing a bit about getting the screening tests done in time. I posted yesterday about convincing myself I've had an MMC so the sensible side of me knows this is just my anxiety going through the roof again! I don't know what's wrong with me at the minute, I'm a nervous wreck!

Hello,
It does sound a bit late but it doesn’t matter when the actual scan happens as they can date the pregnancy at anytime.
How pregnant are you at the moment? I am 9 weeks and I can understand your anxiety.
If you are concerned, could you afford an private early scan? It might help put your mind at ease.
Xx

Dc1 - 9+1 (early scan due to bleeding but they managed to date me so cancelled my original dating scan)
Dc2 - 10+2
Dc3 - 17+3 (booking appointment was late so the scan ended up being late too)
Dc4 and Dc5 were both around 12 weeks I think.

I assume that you’re more concerned about the combined screening test than the actual dating itself? Because that’s the part that has to be done between 10 and 14 weeks. It is cutting it a little fine, you’re right, but there is a good chance you will be dated to within that window. However if they date you further along they can do the screening tests another way, though I believe it’s not quite as accurate.

“ Quadruple blood screening test

If it was not possible to obtain a nuchal translucency measurement, or you're more than 14 weeks into your pregnancy, you'll be offered a test called the quadruple blood screening test between 14 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. This only screens for Down's syndrome and is not quite as accurate as the combined test.

Mid-pregnancy scan

For Edwards' syndrome and Patau's syndrome, if you are too far into your pregnancy to have the combined test, you'll be offered a mid-pregnancy scan. This looks for physical conditions, including Edwards' syndrome and Patau's syndrome.“

But don’t forget there will also be the 20-week scan which will check for abnormalities including markers for some of these conditions. I can understand your concern though

Thanks ladies. I'm 12 weeks today and had an early scan at 8 weeks (measured 8+2).

Yes, it's the screening tests I'm more anxious about....mainly due to the higher risk associated with my age! I know there are alternative tests after 14 weeks but it concerns me that they might not be as accurate.
I've explained my concerns to the midwife but was just told there was nothing are could do as their is a backlog at the hospital.

I had my dating scan at 13 weeks, but it turned out to be 14 weeks as I was measuring further ahead. Try not to worry - they just bring all the other appointments forward. For me personally, I found it a good thing, as I didn't need to wait as long until the next scan and opportunity to see our baby again.

I'll add that I'm 41 and obviously had concerns over the screening tests too, but having had 2 mcs last year I've been worried about everything to be honest.
