Using a humidifier for pregnancy rhinitis?

I'm suffering pregnancy rhinitis and it's particularly bad at night. I've read about humidifiers but am bamboozled by the different options. At first glance the warm ones look best for rhinitis symptoms, but then it seems you have to clean them daily and they could be noisy? Also I'm not clear about the difference between ultrasonic and cool air ones. Do they spread bacteria?

Just looking to try and get some sleep! Has anyone tried these?

Thanks x

also essential oils...?

I was unable to breathe through my nose at night pretty much from week 6ish onwards so I got one from Amazon - it's ultrasonic (not really sure what that means!) and pretty quiet (just some light white noise so doesn't disturb me at all. I can also add essential oils to this one - I'd recommend getting one where you can so you can add oils if you have a cold or are struggling to relax or whatever. Makes our bedroom always smell of lavendar. It's pretty big so I couldn't take away on holiday, otherwise good and fairly easy to clean

It's not the cheapest one but completely solved the problem and I don't think I could sleep without it so worth every penny for me but may be worth getting a smaller one so you can take it if you're away for weekend or use during delivery.

Thanks @Raven83 that's helpful! This seems too pump out cool air but I know you can get ones that do warm as well. Did that make any difference?

Yeah it makes the room very slightly cooler, which I really appreciated being really hot at night and drowning in pillows! No idea about hot air though I'm afraid or what difference it makes, I just appreciate the room being cooler wile my poor DH wraps himself up in duvet!

Ok, that makes sense. I get too hot as well so this could be helpful! I just didn't realise the cool air would also help with stuffy noses but if you recommend for that then I'll give it a go!

Yep it's the moisture being pumped out rather than the coolness of it - we had to make a makeshift humidifer when away for a week by placing a pan of hot water above a radiator (switched on all night) - kinda worked!

We use a warm air one in the alps, as it helps. They're fairly quiet.

Fine for pregnancy. However be cautious about essential oils as some are not suitable in pregnancy.

My cool air humidifier is a godsend with rhinitis. It’s the only thing that allows me to breathe through the night! Also, they come in super handy for babies/toddlers (and indeed adults) with colds, we’ve got so much use out of ours that’s it’s def not been a waste of money!

We have this one, you don’t have to use the vicks pads, you can just use the mist. I’ve never tried a warm one but this cool one works a treat! It does make a noise but it’s just like white noise in my opinion. Doesn’t affect my sleep.
