Second baby but first csection. What advice would you give? What different things might I need to pack that I wouldn’t have needed last time? Also do you have any info on things like... Do you get given a day to attend hospital and a rough time your expected to go down (depending on emergencies etc) or just turn up and wait?
How do you put knickers and pad on if you have a catheter in? Or if you can’t and just have to sit on a pad in bed, how do you show them you can get up and walk to the bathroom so they can remove the catheter if you haven’t got a pad etc on? I just want to be prepared and know what to expect.

Great advice thanks! Just wondering did you get anti sickness tablets during and after the c section? Did anyone throw up? I’m scared of being sick whilst lying on my back and not being able to sit up. Sorry for random question x

I was sick a few times during my c section, it's not as bad as you would imagine.
Mine was emergency so there was a lot of people in the room, I was helped to put my head to the side and be sick into the cardboard hat thing. They stopped while I was sick the just continued. X

Had my second elective section in january.

All was fine dont worry!

*we went in at 6am then it's just your luck where I are on the list. Unless u are diabetic or having twins you wont be first. Bring food for your partner they will get grumpy or have to leave u to get food if you dont get the section till the afternoon

  • wear a nighty. After catheter is out then pyjamas

  • bring food!! I brought nice biscuits, fruit, crisps, Mark's and spencer sandwiches for after. I was starving and also hungry the next morning before husband could visit.

  • I brought always ultra night pads. Much more comfy than the maternity pads

  • when spinal is wearing off get partner to massages your feet and push your feet against him to help get you moving quicker

*you need to pee within I think 6 hours of catheter coming out. If u dont they put it back in ( this happened to me with the first section)

  • its itchy and sweaty when spinal is wearing off

*i had a lot of water retention in hands and knees after for about a week

  • the night in hospital with baby is awful. I found nurses very unhelpful both times. They wouldnt help with getting baby out of cot or changing nappies.

  • First time I was in for 5 days, 2nd section I was out at 24hours. Possibly they bother about 2and time mums as much!

I'm now 7weeks post c section and back to normal doing spin and body pump! Keep active from the start it helps recovery
