When did everyones breast milk come in? This is my first and at 25 weeks I'm wondering should I already be producing milk?

Your milk doesn't come in until after your baby is born, sometimes up to a week after.

You may start producing thick colostrum, i only ever saw tiny spots of creamy paste on my bra but it's normal to not produce any, or produce loads.

You're still fairly early on, wait another 10 weeks 👍

About three days after I gave birth! Never saw anything before he was born.

okiedokieme · 30/01/2020 04:32

After you give birth, you get a little discharge of colostrum prior, from around 34-36 weeks but not always

Shmithecat2 · 30/01/2020 04:34

Mine came in on day 3

sittingonacornflake · 30/01/2020 05:14

Day 3 post birth for me. Never saw a drop until then.

Day four.

Some women lactate during pregnancy but I think most don't

Bezalelle · 30/01/2020 05:36

What does the baby drink if milk doesn't come in until day four? Getting worried!

ParadiseLaundry · 30/01/2020 05:47

You usually start producing colostrum towards the end of your pregnancy so the baby will drink that until your milk comes in, it's small in quantity but it's very nutritious. It's all they need until your milk comes in.

Baby drinks colostrum until your milk comes in. Mine came in on day 3 I think.

Alonelonelyloner · 30/01/2020 18:47

All my babies were between day 3-5 after birth.

I always breastfed but had no milk during pregnancy so don't worry.

Also for PP babies drink colostrum in the first days, powerful full fat stuff! Rich in antibodies and proteins etc.

Marahute · 30/01/2020 19:02

My milk came in around the day five with my eldest. Between day 3-4 with my second pregnancy. I expressed and froze colostrum the second time around (once I was at term) and I think that helped get things going a bit quicker. But I knew what I was doing second time, I couldn't hand express at all when my first was born.

I have another question, im 32 weeks pregnant and am starting to produce clear fluid from my boobs when I 'milk' them (shudder - I feel like a cow).

Is this like 'pre-colostrum'? Is this normal? Should it be milky in colour?

firstimemamma · 30/01/2020 19:26

When baby was 4 days old or so. For the first few days of his life he had colostrum.

Establishing breastfeeding is gruelling hard work but I got through it and ended up loving breastfeeding and everything about it. Breastfed ds for over 16 months in the end.
