Okay so i am currently 29weeks and i am going to breastfeed but i want to have some formula as a backup just incase i fail. Is this crazy?
What i am confused about is the amount of options available and where do i start in choosing one? I mean they vary in price so much so does tht mean they vary in quality? Please help

They are all virtually the same. Sma has a v slightly higher whey/casein ratio at 70:30 but the others are 60:40 so near identical
All have to comply to regulations for certain levels of nutrients
I’d just choose the one most readily available for you locally
There are some differences with comfort/reflux/hydrolysed formulas

Price means v little some are deliberately pitched higher so you assume the quality is higher it’s a marketing ploy

I wanted to breastfeed so I didn't buy formula as I felt I'd be more likely to give up if I had a back up. However that being said, breastfeeding didn't work out for me and I'm now formula feeding. There's a lot of regulation around what has to be in baby formula so they are all perfectly good for your baby, we use Aldi because there's one near us and it's cheap.

I was the opposite planned to bf but always had formula in just in case and never used it because I felt reassured I had it at any time of day or night if needed

I’ve heard good things about the Aldi formula from friends as well

I stared on Aptimil then switched to Aldi Mamia when it was released, it was very good, less frothy, couple of swirls around the bottle once mixed and the bubbles had gone. My daughter took to it very well too.
For hospital i took the Aptimil starter kit, that could be handy to have in just in case, instead of a giant tub

I can't recommend specifics, but if you're hoping to have some purely as a back up, maybe choose something that's readily available in a shop you can easily get to, so you're not having to make a huge trip each time you need it in the future (if that turns out to be the case)

I bf mainly but have a bottle of formula in the evening in the hope it would make her alee longer (it didn't). We use HIPP. When I stopped bf at 12mo we stuck with HIPP and she has two bottles of that now (yes, yes I know it's meant to be a cup).

*gave her a bottle in the hope that it would help her sleep

I started breastfeeding but moved onto formula Aptimil gave her a rash and made her sick even though they are all meant to be practically the same, so we moved onto HIPP which was great. It's harder to get so at about 8 months we moved onto Cow and gate which has always been fine.
