Baby growing smaller than average and I’m worried?

Hi all I went for my 20 week scan today (I’m actually 21+4) and I can’t help but notice that my baby’s measurements are all a lot lower than average apart from the abdomen and legs. Has anyone else experienced this and it’s been fine? Is it normal? I can’t remember reading the measurements with my first (this is my second) so I’m not sure how he measured. I haven’t been able to eat properly due to sickness, have I harmed my baby?

Are the hospital concerned ?

My friend was very ill and hospitalised with her last pregnancy due to sickness, they told her that the baby will take what it needs but it's you that are losing the weight and calcium etc. I'm not a doctor so don't take my word for that but talk to doctors and midwives if you are worried. That's their job. Good luck.

I think if they were concerned they would have said something at the time of the scan and sent you for further testing or scans etc. All the measurements are within the guidelines still, and since it says everything appears normal to look at and nobody is perfectly proportioned anyway, I think you’ll be ok. Talk to the midwife if you’re still worried though for some peace of mind x

To me looks all good. Your baby weight is 17 grams than mine was at 21 weeks too.

I wouldn't worry, remember that every baby measures differently, like us adults. As far as it's in between 5 and 95 percentile I wouldn't worry. I'm pregnant with my 4th baby now.

Meant to say 17 grams less than my baby at the same gestation.

The body measurements look generally around average, the head ones below average but nowhere near the concerning zone. Your baby just has a bit of a smaller than average head, some people do.

Thanks for your comments yes I guess they would have said if they were concerned. I’m going to have a 4D bonding scan in 6 weeks anyway so they will remeasure and my hospital offer a 36 week growth scan as standard x

My baby measured small right to the end of pregnancy but was then born a very average weight and length. They can't really tell from the scan, or your baby might have a late growth spurt.
