I'm only 13 weeks and have an urge to start buying the essentials, is it too early?

When did everyone else start buying things. Xx

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is waiting. Lots of people are shocked that we haven’t bought anything yet at 18 weeks. I said I would after 12 weeks, then 20 weeks but now I think we’ll wait until we get back from holiday at 28 weeks. Partly anxiety but also because we need to have a big clear out first and I hate clutter.

There are always sales on so unless it’s a big item such as a specific pram that you’ve already had your eye on I wouldn’t rush to buy.

If you watch the shops, you'll see that baby events and sales happen fairly regularly throughout the year.

I had the same urge. I bought a few clothing bits from a really nice brand because there was 50% off and that got it out my system. And I'm knitting a baby blanket which is helping me not buy too much yet.

Buy things whenever you feel ready! There’s no right or wrong time x

I said not until baby is born. Then bought everything after my 13 week scan Grin lol but I hid most of it over my mum’s.

We bought our pram in the January sale when I was only 14 weeks but it was such a good deal and we wanted that specific one!
Obviously I’m hoping everything will go to plan and I’ll come home with a baby but should the worst happen we would keep it and try again or sell it. We got it at such a discount I’m not worried about losing money on it and I’m not superstitious about buying or not buying making any difference to the outcome.
I bought a few clothes in the sales too but only very cheap / simple things that are being kept in a drawer until nearer the time we’ll need them.

Personally I like being able to spread the cost of things and I’m trying to save as much as possible before mat leave and my income drops. (Hence buying stuff while sales are on)

I think when you feel comfortable buying stuff is different for everyone so if you feel ready then go for it but if you’re happy to wait then you can leave it quite late and still have time to get everything you need.

We're 13 weeks and have our pram and nursery furniture - our pram was reduced from £1650 to £699 and the nursery set from £1899 to £1427 so we just couldn't not buy them!

It's all personal but we'd rather take the risk and buy the deals then wait and get charged full whack when it's something we've already agreed on.

I’m 17 weeks and I’ve only brought little bits to start building up supplies. You buy whatever you can afford and want to. It doesn’t change the outcome of your pregnancy and should the absolute worst happen then fingers crossed it will be used in the future x

Mostly after 20 week scan
